    deli meat....?

i remember reading a thread a little while back...about how deli meat is a low quality protein....preservatives and sodium used in deli meats can cause bloat, etc.

what about freshly made deli meat?...not packaged stuff...aren't they just a roasted meat (whether its turkey breast, or beef) with spices and then sliced? so now just the sodium is of concern then?

Not sure about that - but you know the saying, when in doubt...

I'd stay away from it and go with tried and true protein sources - chicken breast, turkey breast, eggs, bison, beef, fish, etc

Worse case scenario, if thats what you have for the day it ain't that bad....Although be aware, they are probably basting that sh!t with a lot of butter and the sodium issue will for sure be there. They make their food to taste good and definitely aren't making it for the health conscious individuals. Make sure you read the labels, obviously some will be better then others. Also check for sugars as well, some might have some sugary crust glazed with maple or brown sugar. If you're going use it, find one low is fat and sugar. I'd rather have a sodium issue then have a high fat issue.
