Here is the beginning of my transformation.....
I used to be in pretty good shape while in the army 5 years ago. Depression from ptsd cause me to not care about myself and I let myself go. I would eat out of boredom and I would also eat to take my mind off of things.
Been seeing a Dr and they prescribed me medication that helped with the depression and crap. But they also found that my testerone levels are low. I have been taking the depression medication but not the testerone patches. I just started taking them early this week. (what a diffrence) my sex drive is starting to pick up alot. Been very low for a long time. ? is can I use the stock pile of patches 5mg of Androderm to help me with the weight loss and hopefully some muscle gain.
My current stats are
31 Y/O
216 Lbs
5'8 to 5'9
pretty broad around the shoulders
My diet is horrible. I eat when and what I want. Even when I am not hungry. Starting tomorrow that is going to stop.....
I plan on a high protein diet with no soft drinks just water only. Until today I average atleast a 2 liter of Pepsi daily.
I plan on boiling some chicken breast and eating that as a meal with some veggies for almost every meal.
Once I get to a point at which I feel more comfortable with my weight and after alot of research I might add some supplements to assist me. I want to look like I did in the military.
Someone help me pick a diet so I can stick to it. Not worried about bulking up at the moment. I need to lose weight first.

Glad you are here, you will find not only great information, but a wonderful group of knowledgable, caring individuals who will help as a support group for your goals.
A few recommendations right off, post your "proposed" diet so the diet boys can fix it. Post your workout routine sets/reps/poundages, along with lifting experience, so I can work on that. Go to the "AR remote trainer" thread and post there that you would like to participate as a contestant wanting a trainer. Also post on there that you want "slimmerme" to work with you on the mental side of this, she's volunteered to help with that for others. Take advantage of your resources, I say.
Get back to us soon, you are heading in the best direction and we will help you along the way.

Congrats for making the decision to change, that's the first step. Like the others said, we want to see your proposed diet which we can help you sort out. Nobody here is paid to sit and write up diets all day, so I can promise nobody will do that for you. But if you do the leg work and research, I guarantee we will be here for you until you reach your goals.
Waiting!

Ohh man my old diet as a few days ago.
Every meal I ate was procesed. Usually some sort of microwave dinner or something close.
Starting today I am only going to eat things that I or someone else prepares.
I am about to make a gorcery list so I can stock up on things that will help me.
Here is what my list is looking like now
Lots of chicken breast
Ground Turkey (i actually like it better than beef)
lots of fresh berries and vegetables
cottage cheese
oat meal
lot of water (I have well water and it gets a copper taste at times but it has always tested good)
Going to try to eat foods high in fiber.
My biggest problem is eating out of boredom and drinking atleast 2 liters of pepsi a day. I have drank 3 2 liter pepsi's in a day recently..
Nothing but water and crystal light from here on out. (maybe some real cranberry juice rarely)

The boredom thing - I used to have the same problem. What I did to correct it is every single time I thought about eating, and realized it wasn't part of my 'routine' or was just out of boredom, I exercised instead. Even something as simple as a 20 minute walk around the block or something. This kills 2 birds with one stone:
1) you will train yourself to stop eating out of boredom
2) you will get the little added benefit of more cardio. Even if it's just a bit, over time it all adds up
Foods - add fish, eggs, lean cuts of steak, etc. We still need to see a constructed diet that we can work with, but you're getting there.

Started my diet today. I woke up this morning and ate a boiled chicken breast and some garden pea's. (love garden pea's) I drank about a liter of water. (first time in a long time my urine was clear)
I then did alot of situps until I could not do anymore. Along with some pushps and maybe 10 minutes on the elipitical. (had to stop because the baby woke up)
For a snack between breakfest and lunch I will eat something small. Maybe some dried berries.
For lunch maybe a tuna salad with light mayo and a little olive oil mixed in.
I have to make a grocery store run tonight to stock up on healthy stuff. I am going to throw out all of the unhealthy crap like tv dinners and other bad junk.
I might need some help getting my grocery list together..

That was just a start on trying to get it right. What should I change or should I change the whole thing. I am going grocery shipping early in the morning so I need to get the basics on what I need. I already threw all of the junk food out of the house. No more tv dinners or pepsi for me...
