    sick of brocolli....salad anyone??

    Okay, so I'm sick of brocolli, green beans, asparagus, etc. I eat these veggies to get fiber, yes, but for me, it's a great way to stay 'full' while cutting! I was wondering if I could just eat 2 or 3 salads everyday with about 150g of cucumber and vinegar. I have 2 questions:

    1: Will this provide as much fiber as the above mentioned green veggies?

    2. Is a cucumber considered an OK food to eat while cutting?

    Thanks, guys.

    If your concerned about fiber why not just supplement. Any reason why your not eating any meat? What is your source of protein? What are your stats/goals?

    Go for baby greens such as baby romaine, frisee, baby spinach, radicchio. Iceberg lettuce, mature leaf romaine, and cucumbers are all sugar and water - very little fiber and nutrients. It's best to eat veggies and these salads mainly for nutrients however since your fiber should be coming from low GI carbs mostly.

    Thanks, Damien. That basically answers my question. I was actually concerned that the cucumbers would have significant amounts of fructose anyway. Okay, so the salads are out.

    Jonathan, I do eat meat. I actually have my diet plan posted here in another thread that was critiqued about a week back. I was just wondering if I could replace my usual greens with salads and still have the fiber benefit and to stay full between meals.

    What are some other good fiber sources other than brocolli, asparagus, spinach??

    Cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, kale, collards, summer squash, zucchini. Eat these more for the nutrients and supplement with fiber ideally.

    Psyllium husk fiber from walmart
    sugarfree orange flavor
    1lb = $8

    still go for the fiber from whole foods, but this definately improves the final phase of the metabolic process
