    Wink Rapadura

Anyone heard of it? Thinking of using it for MT natural sweetener. Everyone recommended to me (splenda, equal, sweet n low) mostly splenda was advised but I named them all. Splenda has shown studies of causing alot of health problems down the road, cancer being one of them. I think ill stick to a organic rapadura For my sweetener because it keeps all its nutrients instead of being like the others absent from nutrients.

I just checked it out, and I haven't ever had it, but it seems to just be juice from sugarcane. This doesn't mean that it's bad for you, it just has as many calories as sugar. If you're looking for a natural sugar substitute that has no calories I would suggest stevia.

As far as I can tell, rapadura is not a sugar substitute at all but rather a natural or organic form of sugar. While it may me less refined or natural it is still sugar cane and still has the insulin spiking effect of sugar. It may be less refined but the end result is the same as dextrose.

Stevia is a great sugar substitute - but try it before you buy a bunch of it b/c it is extremely potent compared to sugar and can leave a bitter aftertaste that some people don't like.

Rapadura is sugar cane, original off Brazil, they cook brown sugar to the point that got hard on the pot, then cool down with water and got harder, usually they put peanuts and sell as candy, real popular among kids....
