question about the amount of fat.

I have pretty much transformed my diet from crap to being pretty good. i found out that what I was doing, was awful when i thought I was good. Anyways, what effects would it have on my body by dropping the total fat down but keeping the calories, carbs and protein up? I know everyones body is different, but generally speaking, what are the effects?

Can you post all your stats?, Age, weight, height, body fat%, workout routines,(weekly) cardio and current diet program your on now. Get this info posted so you can get more tailored rather than generic advice. Also, pictures if you are so inclined.

To answer question about fat. Regarding fat or cutting down the amount of fat, this is a real bad idea. Since we're talking about "good" or "essential" fats and not just bad fats, I.E. trans fats and saturated fats etc.

EFA's will and can increase the natural production of testosterone , which naturally helps your muscles grow and your fat melt. It also has been widely recognized that fat (good ones) is the actual delivery system for burning stored fat ( when coupled with weight training and cardio) it also helps reduce the bad cholesterol in the body and satisfies hunger pains. Just make sure your intake is a proper one, you don't want to overdue it on the fat.

Another point of fact is this; in virtually every study ever performed regarding diets, not one low fat diet has ever been proven to lose weight, in fact you will burn the fat and keep it off by following a smart ,good fats diet. Just provide your stats so someone can recommend the right advice.

im 25,200lbs 5' 11 and i dont really know my body fat, but i think around 12%. work mout routine is chest/legs, back/shoulders, bis/tris. kinda slack on the abbs since i still have alittle fat on the stomach ( only place i think i have it left) and cardio about 3 times a week. and rest days are on the 4th day. my diet before was about 3100 calories but kind of just eating everything. i didnt know better and i was taking advice from an idiot.lol. i changed my diet to eating about 3600-4000 calories and i actually have lost 5 lbs, but gained size on my arms, chest and shoulders. i changed alot of the foods i was eating and it has def benefited me.. i eat about 325g protein, 350g carbs, 100-110 g of fat as stated, about 3600-4000 cal.. usually towrd the 3800 mark. i have only been doing this for about 2 weeks now so of course i am always looking to tweak and learn more. My timing is also needs work because of my job, so i just do the best i can.. eating about 5 meals and snacking in bewteen is the best i can do right now until i figure something else out. also i just need to time my carb intake alittle better ( from what ive read) with the pre and post workout.. which is kinda hard since i go to the gym at like 9pm-11pm then bed around 1... i dont like going that late but due to my job and time i get up in the morning and the the nap i have to take when i get home, its the best i can do.lol. any help would be awesome and please, go easy on the verbal abuse.lol also, i used to be pretty overweight when i was about 18.. im talking boout 240lbs, which is 60 lbs more than when i stopped dieting about a year or 2 later.. ive been going to the gym and lifting for about 2 years now. just wanted to add that incase it helps.

Hey clayton, appreciate the feedback, is there any way of getting your daily diet with macros? in other words can you list you 5-6 meals, what your eating, when etc. That would help a ton.

Also, good job on the weight loss. 12% is pretty low, even at your age you should have some decent abs. If your stats are accurate and your having good gains and results on your intake now, you may not have to change that much. Personally I don't like to see more carbs than protein, and depending on where your fat source is coming from it could be just a little high, but again that would depend on who and what you are or are looking to do, ---- body building, express athletics etc.

Something else to consider, after seeing your diet, is that if you have only been doing this for two weeks you may want to stick with what works for now, post the diet for critiquing and adjust as needed. I know others will join in once you give us a little more info. You won't have to worry about too much verbal abuse but we will be honest. BTW you don't seem to be to far off the mark.

well i appreciate it. like i said the timing isnt very consistent due to my job. my meals are about 3-4 hrs apart. probably closer to the 4 to be honest. so what i eat at what time is kind of hard to give you. but i can give the majority of the foods i eat. i eat lots of eggs ( not just egg whites), lots of 1% low fat milk, about 12oz of chicken around dinner, also about 4-8 oz of steak, bout 3 cups of corn flakes each day, white rice ( still not too sure bout that yet), sometimes multi gran pasta( switched from white), 2tbl spoons peanut butter each day, whole wheat bread, veggies every night and about a cup of beans each night as well.. i save my highest fat and protein meal for my pre workout meal ( bout 2 hrs before the gym).. im about to start adding oats to my diet. ive heard nothing but good things, i just havnt been back to the store yet. Also, eas whey protein right after my workout. usually 2 scoops ( 46g protein) in milk which adds another 16 g protein. this prob looks like crap to you and alot of other people, but its 100 times better than what it used to be lol. also, if u can see abbs at 12% then im prob more like 15% or maybe alittle more. but again, all the fat i have left on me is in my stomach area. oh and honestly, the cardio really just started when i started my diet to be honest. i usually just went in and did heavy lifting and didnt worry bout my stomach area because i figured it was a lost cause.lol. i really dont nec care bout the 6 pack, just wish i could loose a few lbs from my mid section. I would also like to add that i dont really get alot of sleep each day, its split up. i sleep about 4 hrs at night after the gym, before work and about 2-3 when i get home. so it varies from 6-8 and split. again, i dont like it, just what i gotta do in order to do what i want to do.
