    Sugar / insulin spike

How much sugar would it take a 200lbs male with 14% bf to trigger an insulin spike ? in one sitting prolly or how much should you try and limit your daily intake to ? and what actually happens when this spike occurs and how long does it take to recover?

I try to keep my sugar intake to an absolute minimum. As far as grams per day Im not sure exactly. Most guys will say take them pwo to replenish glycogen levels after a workout. But Im trying to lose as much bf as possible so sugar is a big no no anyway you put it.....hope this helps...

I too avoid carbs/sugar as well. True, pwo there are benefits. But a bloke would almost have to be at the top of his game and really have his bf% in check before recieving benefit. Where are you at mate? Your bf% I mean?

Its my opinion that any naturally induced insulin spike is going to be useless as far as benefit. They only way IMO to spike insulin to the level required for true anabolic benefit would be to inject it. Since thats dangerous and not prudent for most people - I agree with POPS ....dont load up on sugar PWO - i think you are wasting your time. Glycogen stores willo be replaced with a steady intake of low gi carbs and there is no naturally occuring insulin spike that would "shuttle nutrients to muscle" etc

    good to see you bro!!

lets say you fall of track a few times with added sugar, how long should it take to get back to normal? I know thats a bit vague but lets say that yesterday when I watched the packers beat my bears and I had a few cookies during the game ( like 5 ) how long might it take to get that stored sugar out of my body??

yeah thats me in my avi, so reckon im 14% bf and im on a natural cut ie diet and cardio.

but i had a muller rice dessert for lunch with a chicken breast, so i looked at nutritional info and the carbs splt down to 10grams of sugar, so i ate my bannana with it also ( this was my pre workout meal ). so it got me thinking how many grams of sugar would i take to upset my blood levels? I'm trying to limit myself to one natural sugar hit per day and it is usually PWO, quite easy really apart from the things that have a small amount of sugar in the carb macro breakdown. If im talking BS please correct me.

ok so maybe i missed this lesson at school, blood sugar / insulin levels , so can someone please explain it to me in laymans terms please.

sugar insulin levels have to be naturally balanced right? what does slin do ? with particular intrest to BB's and when cutting

Your blood usually has around a concentraion 100mg/dL of glucose, typically. So upon the absorption of carbs, this level increases, and the body releases insulin , which facilitates glucose uptake into the cells. THen the body returns back to apprx 100.

Slin is short for "insulin", I dont know much about it, although I am familiar with legal pharmaceutical insulins. There are several types, with effects that arnt even comparable to each other, as far as long acting, and short acting. Only injectable forms that im aware of. There was an inhaled form, but it was removed from the market. I suppose insulin could have its role in BB, due to the fact it is an anabolic hormone, I would assume it to be used in bulking tho.
