    Venison

I am a hunter. Ducks, geese, dove, elk, deer. I do not want to debate hunting with anybody here, you won't change my mind, but I wanted to discuss venison as part of a diet. I ran a search on "venison" and found nothing. Any thoughts on venison as a protein source? I always have a lot on hand in the freezer. It is much leaner than beef.

From everything I have read Venison is way, way better than store bought burger. Plus most people eat Venison on the rare side (because it gets gamey if overcooked) which in turns leaves more valuable nutrients.

Wild game is among the best protein source there is, eat up. One note though, your goose and dove have more dark meat, so just like any cut of meat use caution where they get "fatty"

Yes, game fowl is super fatty - I have to second eating the venison and saving the geese, ducks, and quail for someone not dieting.

Ah - you don't want to know about wrapping the dove in bacon before putting it on the grill . . . anyway, that is a rare treat, not a daily staple, but I always have venison around.

The Journals of exploreres Lewis and Clark detail how they were suffering in the winter on an allowance of 10lbs elk daily.
Very little fat. And the Indians were jacking 'em up re: buying crude carbos from roots, wild plants!
Years back some of us in sking and running competitions tried the "eskimo diet". All fat and protein. Misery began
when the last stores of glycogen were consumed. After 10 days you would kill for a Saltine!

Venison is great. Soak it overnight in Italian dressing and grill it. Tasty stuff.

Visiting other countries is always worth the expense. I have been to England - I would not trade the experience for the cash it cost.

There IS hunting in England, up in Scotland, I know.
