MY DIET.. Yes, that's right, this is what I eat...
LOL, I say that as my title, because I've been here for years and understand how many of you feel about certain diets..
BUTTTTT
Once again, I've gained a ton of weight (I yo yo all the time)
This time, I had knee surgery 2 months ago, right after my surgery I weighed in at a WHOPPING 263lbs..
OMG!!!
So.. For the last 5 weeks I've been dieting like a lunatic.. All while riding my bike again for exercise almost everyday (with proper HR of course)
So.. what do I weigh in at now... 233... Yep.. I lost 30lbs in 5 weeks.. To much? YEP!! am I losing muscle in the process? YOU BET!!
BUT I DON'T CARE!! lol.. I feel GREAT!! I feel like a million bucks.. I need to get back to 180 and don't care what I look like, I'll figure it out then, when I get to 200 I will be doing a 500mg wk teste, 10 week cycle.
So here is what I'm eating everyday (basically) and then I have some questions if you pro's could help me with below my daily food intake..
This is just what I ate today..
9am
dannon light & fit yogurt
cup of instant oatmeal plain
11am
2oz flounder or tilapia baked in the oven
2oz of brownrice or one piece of whole wheat toast
2oz of Avocado
2pm
2oz of eggplant
along with a melody of other veggies and 1tbs of Olive Oil
4pm
Apple
4:30-5:30pm
Biking
7pm
extra lean ground turkey 4oz
broccoli
9pm
1/2 cup of cottage cheese, no sugar added peach cup
BED TIME
Ok that's what I had/will have today, just an example of my day to day eating..
Calories.. About 1000 a day, sometimes a little less.
fat= about 25-30 a day
protein you ask.. LOL only like 75 or so
Here's the deal
I want to make sure my fat intake is good enough.. Is Avocado and olive oil ok to have as my fat source?
Any other advice??
I would like to add that I used to take a supplement a while back, which was sesame seed oil is that ok?

Wow, you are really going to lose a lot of weight very quickly on that diet. If your exercising too you'll also likely do some damage to your metabolism. If you really want to crash diet at least do it well.
1g/lb of protein
around 10-12g fish oil
some fibrous vegetables
you'll also need to take diet breaks in order to stay healthy. I wouldn't do a diet this extreme for more than 3-4 weeks without a week of eating at maintenance.
(I don't really recommend a diet this harsh, but if you're going to crash diet you might as well do it right.)

When I'm not on my iPhone i'll give u some quality advice. For now, RAISE YOUR CALORIES. Just trust me on this. With this current diet, you will slow your metabolism to a crawl, burn LBM and eventually stop burning fat all together and possibly even start STORING new bodyfat! Your body will go into starvation mode. You will wind up looking like a smaller version of how you look now (skinny fat).
I'm not just preaching from a book or parroting second hand info; I'm speaking from personal experience.

Well, I will say, once a week I usually have a cheat day or at least a couple of my meals are cheat meals.. And I EAT A LOT during my cheat day..
I'm a little scared about this "breaking my metabolism" stuff.. I really don't want to eat more.. I mean I thought for sure my metabolism is on fire.. Burning like a roaring bond fire.. I eat 5-6 or 7 times a day..
So what can you recommend for fish oil?? Just capsules is good enough?
I also thought because of my fat intake, I would prevent my body from storing fat.. Is this also incorrect?
I really feel good.. But I want to lose at least 5lbs a week NO LESS till I get to at least 210.. Then I will allow myself to lose 2-3lbs a week..
Sorry, but I'm sick of this fat body, and I'm not a fat person, never have been..
I also have tons of pictures, progress pictures and scale pictures.. And use fatsecret.com with my phone, I log everything I eat..
Now you say not to do this longer than 3-4 weeks, can I switch it up and do a no carb for a week, then back to this diet? Do a Jenny Craig for a week? Switch things up like that?
Or maybe every 2 days of eating 1000 calories, the next day I eat 2000 calories? kinda jump my body a little? How's that sound?
THANKS EVERYONE!!!

Look, I don't frown upon crash diets like the rest of these guys. The fact is, I went from clinically obese to fairly lean in 3 months by simply not eating and running like a marathon contestant. I didn't die, I didn't look gross or sick - I looked exponentially better after dropping 75 lbs. in 12-weeks. Hell, because I started lifting again and the few calories I did eat were protein, I didn't even lose muscle. So, what's the problem then? The problem is, for the next year I was unable to eat within the normal caloric range for a man my size without storing body fat. I had to up my calories slowly from 500 to 800 to 1200 to 1600 to 1800 and then finally, I began reaching the normal range. This whole process took a long time and required a lot more work and trial/error than just the crash diet itself. My muscle gains also stopped and didn't begin again until the process was completed as I wasn't able to achieve a high enough protein intake to gain once the initial "noob" gains had passed.
Now, in retrospect, I regret nothing. I got out of a long relationship and was quickly able to get to a point where I was confident in myself and felt attractive. I increased my cardio endurance exponentially and was able to start playing hockey at a high level again, very quickly. But here's where I think you need to reconsider things bud: I got fat very quickly and lost it just as fat, before the "incident" I'd been an athlete my whole life and always ate healthy. I was never a yo-yo dieter, I just had a few rough months that got be fat after I finished my undergrad and was no longer playing college hockey. I now have 2 cycles under my belt and never cheat on my diet. I spent hours a day on this board learning. You are not me. You will not have the willpower or the confidence in your nutritional ability to slowly up your calories and rebuild your BMR. You will be the victim of a depressed metabolism. Sticking to the crash diet isn't hard. It's way easier than eating a lot of food and stretching your stomach despite being in a deficit. Coming off of it is the hard part. You will surely fail.
I really hope this post isn't irresponsible - my point in posting it was this:
Eating a severely low calorie diet DOES achieve rapid weight loss, yes. Plenty of people not in the BB community lose weight and look much better eating celery and special K cereal to the tune of 400 calories a day. How many of them sustain it? How many of them don't look back 2 years later and say, "why didn't I do it right from the start?" (Gbrice). Just listen to these guys, please. If you want to do severely low cals, that's not the worst of it - it's the lack of protein and proper calories. **** eating 2 oz. of avocado and some cereal, lol - if you're gonna eat minimal cals (as one of the first posters said) - get 200g of protein and 12g omega 3, some carbs at breakfast.

People think, "well these guys are on AAS and they've never been fat, they think the world will end if your calories are too low" - trust me, you're in good hands - we've learned the hard way.

I know all too well about the people on this board and the advice given and I have learned a ton.. After all I've been here A LONGGG TIME.. Since 2002..
I've never been fat in my life.. Its only been the last 2 to 2 and half years that I gained weight and bottom line, because I was depressed and ATE!! LOL
I'm not a "FAT" guy.. I've never been nor will I be one..
I honestly don't think I am doing a complete "CRASH DIET" I still EAT all the time, I am still fueling my metabolism and actually going to start increasing my calories each day till I get to about 1800 a day..
As for protein intake.. I agree that its essential when it comes to feeding muscle and for muscle growth.. But there are millions of way to get thin out there, from professionals that get paid to give advise and research... Doctors..
They have had many people under their belts that lost tons of weight and none of them are doing 1gm of protein per lb. a day.. I am not disagreeing with my calories being a little to low and I will go into caveman mode and my body will start to store fat.. I'm willing to take my chances to a certain extent.. I lost another 5lbs this week and now I'm starting to increase my calories slowly.. Today I will probably have 1200-1300 calories and keep increasing from there..
My main concern is fat.. Every "body" is different but what I feel is important to me and have experienced it before, is if I don't get enough fat that is where my body will really start to store it.. So I'm curious and ask again..
how much fat a day do you think I should be taking.. Assuming I'm having 1300 calories a day (and eventually go up to 1800)
I was thinking 30-40 grams.. But I think that might be to low.. More like 50 grams.. And from what sources ? Olive oil? Avocado's?Salmon? nuts?
/thanks

I wasn't saying that you were some fat guy or a noob but you said you had been yo-yoesque. So, I just didn't think any diet that would depress metabolism long term would work out well.

I have had personal experience in this area as well. I was tired of being fat so I went on a diet and started to lose weight. The more excited I got the lower my calories went and the more I exercised. I lost 75 pounds and looked amazing compared to when I was fat. But, along the way I became anorexic and unhealthy. It is cool that you have the willpower to stick to that diet, but have the willpower to not only avoid eating more...but the willpower to not eat less.
Best advice is to listen to the guys here. It will be healthier and you will look awesome when you are done.

Damienm05, Sorry, I didn't mean yo yo-ing as in, always been fat..
besides 2 years ago.. I would go from 165-195.. all the time.. I guess that's what I meant by yo yo-ing. LOL but even at 195, I was still never fat, pretty ripped actually.. But since 2 years ago, I've gained some serious weight.. Never thought it would or could happen.. Some shit in my life is why, but either way, after my knee surgery its time to get this fat gone!!
I figured till I was 210 or so I would change my diet.. But I think after reading your replies and thinking about it, I'm going to try to change it now..
