Lost 2lbs this week and have a few questions

    Hiii,

Had a good diet this week and have lost 2lbs, and I'm undecided whether to b happy with that?

Ihave extreme dieted b4 (low low calories) and lost up to 9lbs a week...

Of the 2lbs, is it possible that this is just water and nothing else? Although I am drinking near on 3litres a day etc

    Thanks

Water its the first thing you lose on diet. I lost 45 lbs went from 25% BF to 14% BF, but I measured my BF that time, every single day when I walked in the gym, I was losing weight in the begging, but my bf was the some. Took some time to see my bf goes down. the best way its to measure every day.

The only way to detemine if the loss if coming from lean body mass is by body fat testing and comparisons. Unfortunately there doesnt seem to be any type of home body fat testing that is very accurate.

Depends, lets take a look at your diet, what are your numbers? What's a day in the life of your diet? The first thing for sure when you starve yourself is water, but that is not true when diet/exercise the proper way.

Look, since I've been just "maintaining" I'm always fluctuating in weight by as much as 15 pounds. For example, one week I eat around TDEE with daily cardio, sports, clean diet, and no cheating or restaurant food. The next week, I'll be busy with dates and obligations so I won't get in much cardio or play much hockey. I aso won't have time to stand in front of my fridge chugging gallons of water. In the same token, I'll be eating healthy but sodium-heavy restaurant food will creep in on these dates and literally, within a few days, I'm up 10 lbs. on the scale and noticing a fuller look in my face and slightly less vascularity along my pelvis. Based on that, I'll reduce carb intake for a few days, drink tons of water, and increase cardio to look good for the next weekend and there it is - the following Friday, I'm back to 210. Meanwhile, my body fat percentage has not changed in months!

Now, when I was actually in body fat reduction mode and steadily losing fat every week, the weight loss was gradual. I'm not saying that any weight drop you see will be water and to write off any initial progress on the scale - I'm just giving you an example of how many factors dictate initial weight loss when a diet regime is suddenly altered. In a few weeks, if you continue to see a reduction of 2 lbs. per week while maintaining/gaining strength in the gym - that's great - but for now just have faith in calories in vs. calories out.

^^^ I agree, My weight fluctuates 3 to 4lbs in a 24 hour period. And up to 7 or 8lbs in a week. The mirror is your best friend when you're loosing weight, but don't expect to see it at first unless you can ignore your mid section. Men are geneticly programed to store fat around the waist, Its the first place we put it on, and the last place we loose it from. Just keep that in mind on your journey.

Agree with Damien and scotty. I can be 206 now and Thursday I can be 208 or maybe 205. The mirror is your friend, take pics... to your question, I'd be satisfied, you can't loose 9lbs per week every week or every cutting period. 2lbs is better than increasing 3 lbs or staying the same. Good luck, and keep at it.
