Trouble with gaining weight, is this okay??
Hi, I have trouble gaining weight since I am in the ectomorph category. I just started a bulking diet and this is what it contains.
3800 Calories(can be between 3500-3800 depending on if I get 6 or 7 meals)
415g Protein
350-450g carbs(this depends if I get 6 or 7 meals in)
80g Fats(or so)
Height - 6'0
Weight - 175lb
Basically what I am wondering is if this is all fine. Am I consuming too much protein? Too little? Same goes fro carbs/fats. Any help is appreciated. I want to know if I am on track.Last edited by Trunewb; 02-17-2011 at 03:47 PM.

^^ THIS. At a glance, fat is too low for that caloric level. However, without knowing your TDEE, this is all a useless guessing game.

Meal 1
1.5cups of Skim Milk + 1.5 scoops Protein(ON) + 1.5cup grinded oats
1 whole 5 egg whites(I add a little cheese into my eggs)
Multi-Vit + Fish oil
Meal 2
6-8oz chicken
1cup brown rice
Meal 3
6-8oz chicken
1 1/2 cups of brown rice
Workout
PWO Meal 4
1.5cups Skim Milk + 2 Scoops Protein Shake
Creatine(5g)
Dextrose 80g
Meal 5
6-8oz Lean Beef(sometimes I have to use chicken here because I don't have beef)
1 cup of brown rice
Meal 6
6-8oz Lean Beef(same goes here)
veggies
almonds
Meal 7
1.5cups cottage cheese + Almonds + fish oil

Ur protein intake is good to go. If you're not gaining on that diet then try adding some more fats (healthy).

Protein and carbs look good. But I would def increaset the fat...good fat..

I'm relatively close in height and it wasnt but a few years ago I was at 170. The concept to gaining weight is easy. Keep your calories high and be consistent at that but both of those is not always easy. I had to eat a minimum of 4k calories (clean) for me to see the gains that I wanted to see. Just raise the healthy fat cals a bit and you will get there. Your pro and carb counts look good.

ur the same weight and a bit shorter then me, wht age and bf? firstly do what other guys suggested, post FULL diet for the day including macros. for a start ur protein is way 2 high, guys say u need 2g per ib of bw but imo tht is bs. my trainer told me 1.5g per ib bw! i get 250g, u can go 4 300 if u want, and up your carbs! what is with 1:1 ratios for bulking?! its just not gonna happen. go 4 500g carbs! fats i wuld say 80g is descent. culd go 4 100 as long as u keep it clean!
