dextrose more than 20 minutes after workout=fat production????

I heard a personal trainer in the gym telling someone that if he waits more than 20 minutes before he takes his protein/simple carb shake, the carbs(dextrose in particular)will be stored as body fat.It is the first time ever i have heard such a thing and i have been researching a lot the past months so i was wondering if this is true.

So,if someone wants to do 30 minutes cardio after his workout and THEN takes his shake he will build fat???

I never heard that and most personal trainers aren't actually allowed to give nutrition advice, although I'm sure most do. If you're trying to lose fat then why ingest simple carbs at all?

No. The trainer you heard is a moron and needs donkey punched.

After intense exercise (lifting, cardio) you can ingest simple carbs in order to get an insulin spike, which will help shuttle nutrients (amino's, vitamins, supplements) into the muscle cells.

So actually best time to have the simple carbs is PWO.

Because they have more of a chance of being used rather than broken down and stored as fat.

But it all depends on the amount. Of course if you eat 200g of simple carbs pwo, then most likely, some will be stored.

So the amount has to fit into you macros for the day.

I usually have 60g of carbs from apple juice pwo. Along with another 30-50g of carbs from oats or ezekiel bread.
A nice mix of complex and simple carbs.

Oh and the time frame is usually within 45 mins to get your pwo meal in.

I havent seen any hard proof that, that is 100% correct though.

By the time I get home from the gym, its usually been 45mins to an hour. Then I have my meal. It still works for me.

No,i'm not trying to lose fat at the moment.I decided to diet a bit more to try and lose some of the fat that i have round my waist(which isn't much, but i hate it)and now i have slowly started wheights again and i am raising my calories slowly.that's why i like doing cardio after my weightlifting and on off days.

I thought that sounded weird. When i heard it i was like ''what?"Just thought i'd check with you guys.

Some trainers man. Nothing surprises me anymore after working with morons for over a year now. These guys give decent training advice more often than not but nine times out of 10, their diet knowledge is no better than that of the guy who asks "what can I help you with today?" at GNC.
