whats something good to eat at 3am?

Basically, I have insomnia so I'm awake by this hour and usually lie in bed awake or in a very light sleep until I have to get up. This makes me really hungry so I was wondering if anyone has any ideas of something that would be good to eat at this time of night? I cldnt be bothered cooking any thing up or eating a big meal tho..

Keeping cottage cheese in your refrigerator and snacking on it is by far a better option than snacking on chicken breast at 3 am. Stick with low-fat and/or nonfat varieties and never add fruit to it at that time of the day, since insulin spike is about the very last thing you are going to need at that time of the day. I recommend a full cup, not only it will give you a lot more protein but also is more likely to put your ass back to sleep sooner.

    ^ ^ good advice.

You can also go with a casein shake for something quick and convenient. Casein is the protein found in cottage cheese, so they're essentially the same.

PS - I have that sleep problem alot too, I HATE it!! I can fall asleep in 2 minutes flat, i'm OUT. But then a couple hours later i'm so wide awake and fully alert, it's disgusting.

Nice joke. Although skim milk and home made flourless, sugar-free & low-fat protein enhanced brownies may also be a pretty good alternative...
