    Cliff Bar

I got a bunch of cliff bars and have been eating them for a midday snack. They seem pretty healthy and give me energy. What do you guys think? good or bad?

They're not "bad" for you per se, but not body building food. I'm not looking at one right now, but I imagine they're pretty sugary.

I haven't eaten a protein bar / carb bar / crazy pixie super chocolate flavor GymPump9001 bar in months. Food is strictly better unless in an emergency. You can also make your own homemade protein bar. Check baseline's thread in the recipe section !

crazy as a stand alone question. Good for a healthy alternative to a klondike bar. Good for a weight loss program. Good for a mass building program. Post the rest of your diet/exercise program/pics/personal stats/ultimate goals and we can better answer. Other than that I'll go with scotty's take on it.

1st meal-protien shake with a cup of fruit
2nd meal- 3 eggs and non fat yogurt
    3rd meal- 4oz chicken breast
4th meal- handful of almonds and a protien shake
    5th meal- cliff bar
    post workout shake
6th meal- salmon and white rice.
My goal is to lose about 10lbs and cut up. I hit the weights everyday for about a hour then I do about 20mins of cardio. Just wanted to make sure that the cliff bar is not gonna mess up my diet.

The diet doesn't look much like a cut diet so, in the midst of the other issues with your diet, I don't see it as any worse. Of course how bad it is depends on your ht/wt/age/bf% now. I'm mostly concerned about the lack of good carb choices for all but your last meal. It sounds like you are definitely putting the effort in to make a positive difference. If you would like us to help with a diet we'd be happy to do so. Also, if you don't mind, post up your exact workout program including specific exercises/sets/reps/poundages. Of course post your stats and a pic would be even more helpful.

Cliff Bars are usually something cyclists eat while training. I prefer a snickers.

Hey massemotions - while this diet is good, I think you might want to drop the fruit cup with protein in the am. That's probably way more carbs than you need in one sitting depending on your shake nutritional facts. You're also drinking alot of shakes through out the day, you might want to consider getting your protein from my natural sources.

I'd also suggest eating carbs and veggies with every meal. And it's my personal opinion that Cliff Bars aren't a good supplement. They high in sodium, sugar. I'd eat a little of those as possible. Again, just my humble opinion.

brown rice syrup is deceptive as a sweetner - it supposedly has a low gi ....but it contains maltose...which is known to spike blood sugar....its is 2 glucose molecules with a simple bond. It is quickly broken down in the body to - you guessed it - 2 glucose molecules. It is not recommended for diabetics . Given all this im not sold on it being any better than simple sugar. Just a little info so you can decide if this is for you.
