    Night-time eating problem

I have a problem where I wake up in the night and I am starving.
If I wake up, I am half asleep and it's extremely difficult for me to say
"no, I'm not going to eat" and go back to bed.

When I do wake up, and I eat, I end up sleeping really well the rest of the night.

When I wake up and DON'T eat, my sleep is horrible. I sleep but the quality is terrible, and I only wake up again and again starving.

However - I am always eating protein bars or oatmeal.
So it's good food, not junk.

I often eat around 500-1000 calories BEFORE I wake up to start my day.

Despite the night time eating problem, I still have managed to lose 60lbs of body fat.

But if I didn't eat at night I'd probably lose more weight!

Anyone know how to help with this?

I need to find a way to get rid of the food cravings in the night!

I am around 15% body fat, 6ft tall, 215lbs... 26yr old caucasian male

Either break the habit and simply don't eat, or factor this mid-night meal into your 'daily' meal plan. i.e. if you eat 7 meals/day, make this one of them, count it towards your day.

I would do what GB says and factor it into your daily plan. I am the exact same way. I have to eat at like 4-7am or else I cannot sleep. I just take a protein shake and go back to bed.

Well glad to hear I'm not alone with the issue.

I've have heard that this problem might have something to do with brain chemistry, i.e. eating certain foods during the day may cause you're brain to generate hunger signals in the night.

That's probably a tough problem to solve though - i.e. neurologically, assuming that's the case... It's so hard to break though, almost feels impossible at times.

    Thanks

I think its just from not eating for hours on end... Don't think it needs to be that complicated bro.

Being hungry gives us a burst of energy (so we will go hunt/gather and get food).

How close to bedtime do you eat your last meal and what does it consist of?

Dog and I are eating from about 4pm to 9pm. She gets low cal. Puppy Corns, I eat much bran flake cereals (colon blow).
The secret to controlling food intake is too have only the most mundane items on hand. When toking everything is delicious.
