You want ala to help boost you into ketosis. So if you took it on a carb up day, you would defeat the purpose of the carb up.

Take the ALA on your carb up days it will help shuttle the carbs you get into your muscles and leave less glucose in your blood. Allowing your body to get back into keto quicker when you stop the carb refeed.

It is going to have to be one of those things that you try and see what you think.

I take R-Ala during carb ups only. I have been doing this for almost 2 months and have not had any set backs. I have cheated a few times and had some ice cream or a bun with a hamburger during the week but have taken a few caps before and remain in ketosis. R-Ala is not a reason to cheat but if I do at least I won't feel guilty afterwards. Some people use it in the beginning to get into ketosis faster but I did not try that.

so let me get this, because there are so many ideas on this.take ala/r-ala at 300mgs before carb-up meals on refeed days only.and the reason for this is to keep you in ketosis during your carb-up period which is 24-36 hours.

Take 100mg of r-ALA or 300mg of ALA for every 30-40g of carbs you consume. The ALA will help shuttle more of the carbs into your muscles and leave less floating in your blood stream, this will allow you to deplete your blood sugar levels quicker and get back into Keto quicker when the carb up is over.

I have remained in ketosis doing this but I was taking R-Ala not regular ala and keeping the carbs in check. I never said anything about 300mgs. How many caps depends on the amount of carbs you are eating.
