    I need a food babysitter...

I have been training since 1994....but I never really focused on my diet...I never really had to....but now...I'm 36... had multiple back surgeries...I have to focuse more on my diet...I'm 5-6, 193-203lbs..bf% unknown-i wake up and you can see my abs but as soon as I eat they start to go away...before my surgeries I was 221lbs...I dropped down to 170lbs by the second surgery...I never worried about my BF% before...but now I want to be cut and vascular...really really vascular...and I cant stop eating everything in site...I have no will power when it comes to food...I'm not in bad shape...I just want to be in better shape...vascular shape.....

I had to get that out....

    Welcome back!

TBH, i'm not sure what any of us can do for you with regards to that... we're here to support and motivate for sure, but this is something you ultimately have to do on your own. I've been there, trust me I know the 'out of control' feeling all too well.

How badly do you want this? Is the very brief satisfaction you get from eating foods you like worth the sometimes days of anguish it causes you? Not to be corny with old adages, but you know the one - nothing tastes as good as thin feels.

Think it. Repeat it. Live it!

Start keeping a food diary, see where you're going wrong. You might think you already know, but if you start logging everything that goes in your mouth (and I do mean EVERYTHING - even a single pretzel or chip), you may begin to see patterns and will learn where your trouble area is.

Good luck, keep us posted and let us know how we can help more specifically!

thats right....you guys said to be honest. How many people on here are 100% honest in writing down what they ate. If I'm going to post asking for advice, help, or your opinion I'm going to be honest. Last week was a hard food week. Everyone on the east coast thought the sky was falling and I'm a service member thats at work from 0500-1700 everyday. I was unable to have any prepped food to take to work as everyone flooded the supermarkets and bought them out while I was at work. Please stay with me. I'm not going anywhere. Never have Never will........

Once things get back to normal around here, do your best to get your arse back in gear. This past week will be no big loss in the big picture.

Did you get hit hard up there at the shore...? We barely got any rain, mostly just wind. We could use more rain.

body weight really didn't move this last week but I look leaner and I can see my abs better...I have now completed 3 full weeks of training in the gym...which is awesome being that I was on bed rest for 18 months...because I had my back operated on twice in 2010...I'm taking my time and going light in the gym... even though my back is still not back to 100% I'm still having great workouts...I feel so pumped up and motivated after all of my workouts...I love it.

again...thank you everyone for the support.

    Question...

when I wake in the morning you can see my six pack but as soon as I get or even drink water I start to look fat and bloated and by the end of the day I have a gut... does anyone else have this problem? mrs.misery13 says its because I've had 3 surgeries on my abdomen area and I have to much scare tissue that won't allow me to ever get my abs back to the way they used to be or want them to be... your opinions please. I hope I was clear in my ramblings...

What kind of surgeries have you had? Have you had your abdominal wall cut open like a female does in a C-section?

I had surgery on an inguinal hernia back in March and couldn't contract my abs for a while. Hell, I couldn't even take a piss without brutal pain at first. But then I used it as an excuse to not work abs for way too long, really up until fairly recently. The point is that your abs are just like any other body part - if you don't work them intensely like the rest of your body they will remain a weak link, especially if your genetics are not superior. If your abs are developped and you BF is low enough, you will see your abs all day long. It's not water that's covering them up unless your on cycle and having an excess E2 issue.

Is it possible you just retain water at a highly abnormal (albeit harmless) rate? Do you have any pain associated with the bloating?

Nothing, necessarily. Just that your body retains water! Are you drinking enough water? If you drink it, your body will have an easier time letting go of what it's holding. Counter intuitive, I know.
