    wheat germ

    so i see some bread recipes have wheat germ in them. does wheat germ help lower the glycemic index any?

    Lower the glycemic index of what? The bread that it goes into?

    I wouldn't be too concerned with that small stuff bro. Wheat germ is good stuff, just know that much.

    yes the bread. reason why im asking is because im making bread with barley flour and of course bread recipes call for other flour like bread flour or all purpose but those are high on the glycemic index. ive never used wheat germ and was wondering if the recipes had wheat germ for the purpose of countering the other flours that were high on the index or if it was there just for taste and texture.

    I highly doubt they add wheat germ to change the GI of the bread. Note that whatever you eat the bread with will affect the GI. Look up 'glycemic load' - GL - GI is kind of useless IMO.

    i have a better idea now that i actually saw a jar of it. like little specs. i had this mental image it was more of a mixture like substance.
