    TDEE problem in calculation

Hello, Im new to the forum and am trying to get a better cutting diet going for myself. I seem to have come across a bit of a problem with the TDEE calculation.

I did all the math and my TDEE is 3300cal and I want to drop my daily intake to about 2800cal (500 deficit)

Heres my problem, I work on a drill rig, and as such I wake up at 430am to begin my day, breakfast is at 5am and I wont get back home from work until 630 or 730pm, followed by that days workout usually lasting apx. 1hour. I wont go to sleep until around 10pm, maybe 1030 if im feeling rowdy (lol) So my question is, shouldn't the TDEE take into account hours awake and functioning, as opposed to hours sleeping. Seeing as how I am up for more hours then most I'd naturally be burning more energy.

If I were to follow the eat every 3 hours plan, my meals would be absolutely tiny to keep them under 2800cal/day... or maybe thats the point haha.

Anywho, am I out to lunch thinking I stay up later then most and everything sounds about right, or should I consider that maybe I do need to consume more cal a day since I am up and functioning longer?

Ok so you've worked out that your tdee is 3300cals. Did you do this with a formula or do you know this because that's how much you eat and you're maintaining the same weight?

What I'm getting at is you should add up what you eat in a day that will maintain your current bodyweight. Then subtract 500cals from that. I've found that this is the best way to go about it.

yea I did the formula to come to 3300. I agree with you, next step I am going to add up what I eat per day. Good idea, thanks
