    High carbs in creatine??

Hello all, may be wrong area for posting, sorry.

I bought some cheap creatine at walmart, 6-star brand i belive, but after using it for about 1 month I read the nutrition label and is says 170cal and 42g of carb per scoop?! Is this normal levels, cause that seems really high, mainly on the carbs!

If this is high, is there a more common brand that others have used with much lower carbs and cals??

    Thanks.

Definitely not normal!!! This isn't just creatine bro, this is some other crap with creatine in it!! I'd ditch it, go to The Vitamin Shoppe and get some real creatine (if you really think you need to use it), or better yet order online.

There shouldn't be any cals or carbs. The only ingredient should be creatine monohydrate. It should be very affordable as well.

That brand along with many others have a shitload of sugars (maltodextrin and dextrose) added into it which is where the calories come from. They use the excuse that having simple sugars after a workout will spike insulin and replenish glycogen levels and provide nutrition more rapidly to the worked muscle group. However, if you have been consuming adequate carbs throughout the day there shouldn't be any need for simple sugars imo.

Supplement companies actually package CMH with simple carbs (as above dextrose/matodextrin) because they want you to believe that by spiking insulin levels you can store all of the CMH in your muscles very quickly... Similar to the reason they pack out PWO supps with sugars ''To quickly replenish glycogen PWO''

In reality both approaches are bullsh*t as we really dont need an insulin spike to store energy, high levels of insulin may replenish glycogen/ store CMH quicker than low(er) insulin but the fact is that over a 24 hour period the results are the same.

Try True Protein dot com for straight Creatine Monohydrate, nothing else

Cheap often translates to crap bro. There's a reason it's cheap.

creatine monohydrate can come flavored or unflavored. The unflavored has a slight chalky flavor, but not too noticeable. Creatine hydrochloride is some nasty tasting stuff though.

They're all right. I know some come with carbs, but the good stuff doesn't. It's just straight creatine
go to the vitamin shoppe, or as before said, order offline, or go to gnc or something.
i wouldn't advise buying walmart creatine.....
