I'm usually a 3 to 4 a day guy, but try to get most of my pro's from food. I enjoy them so I drinkem as much as I can.

I do five to six a day since I just don't have the time to prepare a decent meal every three hours.
Plus, if I eat any more chicken or tuna I might just grow gills and wings.

You don't want to get your main source of protein and calories from shakes....stick to real food as much as possible, just use the shakes to supplement your diet when needed. Personally I only use shakes before, after my workouts and before bed.

I don't really have the time to cook up a ton of chicken breast or steak. So I usually have about 4 shakes a day at 55 grams of protein each. My other 2-3 meals are "real" protein sources like eggs or cottage cheese. Try to get your carbs. from whole food though, it's pretty simple compared to protein.

.....
anytime u can use real food, all the better.
Keeps u fuller longer, better for metabolism, and sits in the gut supplying nutrients at a more steady pace than liquid.
Don't fall into a liquid diet, and take heed to the word "supplement" and it's meaning.

I never really understood when people talked about "real food protein" and another type...i'd like the know the difference. Now everyone knows some digest faster.. some absorb better...blah blah blah... but is you need 275 grams a protein a day(example)...why would it be bad to obtain some from shakes and what would be the difference if someone ate "real protein" instead. Talking just protein here by the way.

Better absorbtion/digestion rates is the main thing. Plus you want a variety of amino acid profiles. Also protein shakes don't give you the same vitamines and minerals as real foods do. Shakes digest too guickly to be of great use for most of the day, they are also probably converted into glycogen in the blood at a faster rate since they absorb guicker, I am not 100% sure of that.
