    bmr and tdee

    so im trying to figure out my bmr and tdee and it just doesnt look right.

    im 26
    5'10''
    205lbs

    so converted it would be 66+(13.7+93)+(5x178)-(6.8x26)/ 66+1274+890-177=2053

    then for my tdee x 1.9 (im a ruffneck on an oil drilling rig so very physical job and I train 5 days a week very hard) and that comes out to 3900!!! wtf ive never eaten that much and that is just a base???

    my diet right now is 2250 for cutting. but I should be at 3400? ive never eatin that much. and to bulk would be 4400 holy shit. im not sure if I calculated that correctly. could some one help me out pls

    What formula are you using, if you could get your bodyfat checke it would be better, im 27 220 right now and my cLoric intake to maintain came at 3300 so dont worry you are close but i am still running a 2200 cal diet

    I would disregard the TDEE calculators as IMO they are highly inaccurate, usually well above what maintenance calories should be.

    If you know your BF%, a much better estimate would be your LBM (lean body mass) X 15.

    Example: If you're BF% is 15%. 205lbs X 85% (LBM) = 174.25. 174.25 X 15 = 2614 cals for maintenance. Drop 500 cals per day to cut so it seems you're right in line with your current 2250cal cutting diet.

    LBM = total wt - bodyfat wt

    Bmr = 370 +(21.6 x LBM in kg)

    Kg =( wt in lbs ) x .4536

    Get ur bf.. Calculating bmr not based on LBM is inaccurate

    if i were u id steer clear of the 1.9 x BMR .. the thinking on here is that activity level formula tends to put u a tad high.. mine had my tdee at 3100 and im currently eating 2150 cals and doing cardio 5-6days/week and lifting 4 with no deviation from diet whatsoever.. ive lost 18 lbs in 8 weeks and only 1 kg of lbm.

    Yeah I dont know who/how they came up with the multipliers that error so bad on the high side. For something like that, you would def want to error on the lower edge of TDEE.
