Really overweight what should I do first.

I'm new to the forum and it will be while before I'm able to get a source from anybody but that's ok because I'm broke right now anyway. The question I really have now is that I'm 5' 10" 252 lbs. I not new to working out or lifting weights. I am new to any of this stuff. I want to know if I should get on a newbie cycle and lift weights and diet or should I try clen do more cardio then try to add some muscle.

first thing you should do is forget about cycling. you need to get you diet right above anything else. you have come to the right place. read the stickies at the top of the nutrition forum and start there. that should help you get a grasp on how you should go about eating. cardio, diet, and most important, consistency, is all you need to know!

First, cut-fat, diet+cardio+lifting will make the most transformation in the least amount of time. How old are you? And are you new or not new to working out and lifting? Post up a sample diet, along with your exercises experience and what days you are available to exercise (eg: M-S 6am Cardio, 6pm Weight Lifting) We will help you get where you want much faster than figuring this all out on your own. For your best results and to keep yourself motivated, take and post pics here and plan on recording everything you do to accomplish your goal right here on this thread so we can keep you accountable, correct anything that my be damaging to your end goal and encourage you along the way.

Welcome! You have come to the right place to change your life.
Please list out everything you eat for review.

And if you could do some cardio first thing in the morning straight out the door with a fast clip walk for at least 20-25 minutes as many days in a row as possible you will see the BF shed away. This you could start asap and get your metabolism ramped up and signal to yourself that you have started your program.

Plus if you start a log whether you are ready or not will get you going sooner than later.

    GOOD LUCK TO YOU~

    Glad you are here.

    Welcome to the forum.

Years ago I topped out at 235 - 240 at 5' 10" and then lost 75 pounds. I also got out of shape when I was away from the gym for six years with a spinal injury. I started to get back in shape in January of this year and have lost about 40 pounds of fat. It is definitely doable, and the rewards are huge.

I believe diet will do the majority of the work. Cardio will help. Lifting will increase fitness and adding muscle will help burn more calories at rest.

I would recommend getting your calories down to the 1800 - 2000 range (I was able to cut to 195 recently at 1800 calories a day) and doing as much cardio as you can handle. I don't mean go overboard, I just mean push hard to do it if you really hate it like I do. 45 - 60 minutes a day for 4 - 7 days a week will help.

The guys in the diet section can help with a diet, but at this point I believe watching calories alone will do the trick. You can start worrying about macros (protein, carbohydrates and fat) as you get closer to your target weight.

agreed with all the other bros. leve gear alone. ALL gear until u got ur bf down. in may i topped off at 276, 36.8% bf, im 5'10". so as you can imagine if your "really overweight" imagine how i felt. as of wed wen i checked myself in 231lbs--23% bf. roughly over 40 lbs in bout 6mos total time--3mos being on a strict diet. i struggle eating clean. but my routine consist of 5 day split weights, post cardio 30 mins. no gear is going to shed fat, u have to put in work. u can do it, just like all of us did and are currently. check out the different sections fitness/nutrition and educate yourself.

As stated above, forget about cycling any time soon. You need to learn the fundamentals of training and nutrition, and then actually implement them and learn about your own body. IMO, you are years away from cycling and doing it sooner would be doing yourself an injustice.

At this point, you don't need to do anything dramatic to get results. Eat a sensible diet (we can help with that) and stick with a moderate weight training program and LOTS of cardio. Consistency is key here. Find it in you to be disciplined, and you will see results.

To start, I suggest you read my cutting 101 sticky. It will help you get the ball rolling.

Good luck, please keep us posted.
