Is whole wheat pasta considered a clean carb?

    For bulking and cutting. Thoughts?

    Personally, I'd advise against.

    Do this.

    Google:
Glyc emic index (no space in the first word)
find one that has a couple of hundred items on there, and either save or book mark. the lower the gly***ic value, the "cleaner" the carb.

In a nut shell, carbs with a low value are slower to convert to sugar than those with a higher value. Ultimately, you want the slowest converting carb possible, with possibly the exception of pre/post workout, which is an ideal time to eat a banana or some other fruit.

    Good luck!

in general, i would agree with that. you can sneak fruit pre/post workout, which is a good time for some healthy simple carbs. but go to the glyc emic website and for variety, you can maybe pick out a few others. but the three you mentioned are the work horse for dietary needs.

right now, i'm doing my simple carbs the dumb way. sorry, but it's true. i dump in a big scoop or two of muscle milk, which has a favorable protein/simple carb ratio for this very thing. then i do the same thing for intra workout shake. sometimes i'll put a little honey in the intra workout shake, which isn't right either (an old timer trick), but it keeps the energy levels up and helps prevent musclular fatigue during my time in the gym. pretty shitty solution right now. really havn't gotten into my rhythem yet from coming back home.

but if you are interested, you could go to our recipe section in the nutrition section for a proper alternative that the crap i'm doing right now.
