    Negative Calorie Foods

    So as I am sitting here starving I thought I would search for some veggies I could eat to fill me up a bit between meals. Lately I have been hungry almost immediately after eating a meal or within an hour of eating a meal. I've added 1-2 diet cokes in the mix which I really do not like to do. I've been drinking water almost exclusively for 2 years. So on my google search I stumbled on this phenomenon called zero or negative calorie foods. I thought that the list would only include items such as celery and lettuce. However the list includes some fruits that are quit tasty. So does anyone know if there is any truth in this list?     I'm not aware of any fruits being negative calorie foods, but if i'm wrong, i'd love to hear more.

    Negative calorie foods are generally low calorie to begin with, being mostly water and fiber. Therefore it takes more energy to digest them than the energy they are providing. Every fruit and berry I know of contains more carbs than what we're talking about, and that's mostly sugar to boot.

    That's what I always thought. I was really surprised to see fruits like oranges on the list but hopeful that there was some truth in apples or cantaloupe.

    ^^ highly unlikely. Look up (you can even use Livestrong's own database) the carb/sugar content of an average sized apple. That should pretty much sum it up.

    very few net negative calorie foods.

    offf the top, there's celery.......

    I'd be very careful with that list. Correct me if i'm wrong, but how can a CARROT be a negative calorie food? carrots are loaded with sugar!

    That's exactly what I was thinking. How could an orange be a negative calorie food? However, an internet search provided a few sites with similar lists so figured I'd bring it to the experts.

    fruits are full of sugar.. fruit companies lobby and lie to make higher profits.. its rather insulting to me ... i mean look at the food pyramid.. full of bs.. all because some bakery and dairy farm was like .. "lets tell everyone that they need this to live and we will become rich"

    ^^ the food pyramid is a fvcking joke! So is the RDA for protein intake though... basically, anything the goverment sets forth... well, just do the opposite!

    negative calorie fruit would totally change every discussion and diet critique weve made on here about fruit not to mention valuable sources of literature warning against its consumption.. im curious to the reasoning and logic behind whoever made that claim...
