No. Just do it with some good complex carbs, like a cup of oats. Your body will use it!

    This.

The last 3 weeks straight my breakfast has been oats , heaping tablespoon of flax meal, tablespoon of wheat germ, 2 egg whites, water (mix well) - microwave -add splenda and cinnamon and splash of fat free half and half.
Whey protein shake on the side.

It is. I usually switch it up but this tastes good , its fast , and its working for me. I dont see me changing it anytime soon - which is unusual.

so is whey a good idea at any other time of the day? as long as we have some complex carbs to go with it? or should it still be limited to just meal1 and pwo?

From what I'm reading here, I think it's not such a big deal to worry about. PWO it's a great idea to get some complex carbs and quickly absorbed protein (whey) in there as most believe your nutrient uptake is at it's peak.
The rest of the time treat it like it's name says, SUPPLEMENT. Get your protein in with each of your meals from as much real food as you can. Then use a shake or two to make up the difference. Consistency with a balanced diet is the best way forward.
