Someone give me a brief explanation on why most ppl add oatmeal to their diet when it doesn't contain much protein. Is it because it is low-fat?

Oatmeal is a slow burning, complex carbohydrate with a low gly***ic value. In fact, most of us only eat about three foods when looking for complex carbs
Oatmeal
Yams/sweet potato
Brown rice
let me know ifyou don't understand the importance of a slow burning carb
Because it's a great source of complex carbs.
the less processed the better. Processing, like mashing, increases the glyc emic value, which increases the rate at which it burns.
for me, you can bake whole. there is also a recipe section in the nutrition section here you can check out....

Mashing increases gly***ic value? I've been baking mine till they are soft enough to skin and stir with a fork, suppose I'll have to change that now.
Oatmeal also seems to be something we all can put up with eating for a long time. Been eating it for years and still actually like it.

Do you think blending the oats - as in Slimmer's pancakes - increases the gly***ic value too, or are they still just as hard to break down - only smaller?

OK thanks for info.
YAMS!!(sweet potatoes too) Poke holes in one with a fork, wrap it in a paper towel and microwave it for 5 minutes. Take it out and peel off the skin, comes out perfect everytime!!!!
