    Crashing metabolism

    Hey guys. Happy Friday to everyone. Someone told me this morning that creating a calorie deficit of more than 500 cals can crash your metabolism I did a little reading and all I came up with was that having less than 1,000 cals a day can slow your metabolism to a creep. Anyone have an opinion?

    This guy at work is a local competitive bodybuilder and basically said your body will go into starvation mode and completely stop burning fat. So he is saying that if ur TDEE is 3100 cals and you make a diet of 2300 cals then you will stop burning fat without the aid of a thermogenic.

    Your body will burn the free glucose in the blood stream first, if nothing there than it attacks glycogen reserves in the liver and muscles, if those are empty too then it burns the fat. If the fat reserves are too little too (most likely low-single digits) then it is about time to cannibalize muscle.

    This is how the process works, you can fall 1500cals under your TDEE and still burn fat regardless of metabolic rate, not that I am suggesting this to be practiced by anymeans but it is technically possible, fat will burn during physical activity.

    My tdee is 3100 and i cut at 2150cals for 5months from 22% bf down to @12% with no thermogenic..

    if u run low carb it is a good idea to have refeed days every week or 2 depending how low ur cArbs are.. This will help stimulate metabolism.. That guy made too broad of a statement..
