Thread: TDEE equation

    Question TDEE equation

I typed out all the information from the sticky and got something like 2283 BMR calories for maintenance.. Doesn't this seem way to low?
    66 + (13.7 x 84) + (5 x 73) - (6.8 x 16) 16 years old, 6'1, 185 pounds and working out 4 times a week!
    66 + 1150.8 + 365 - 108.8
    1473 x 1.55
    2283
I tried then googeling TDEE and soon realized I got many different results on my calorie base.. Does this seem right? Thanks

the TDEE formula here at the board is a good starting point, but simplistic and not entirely accurate I've found out.

That formula is okay. Much like 405 says i prefer katch mcardle which focuses on lean body mass and is actually a bit simpler. Check that out. I tend to believe that most of these equations are a bit on the high side also so its just a matter of giving it a go and monitoring/adjusting to suit.
