    juicing diet

So i was talking to a cousin today he is trying to lose some weight has about 30-40lbs extra fat on thats depressing him, he knows that i have been eating clean from what i learned through you guys so he did some research of his own. Appearently he is going to start a juice fasting diet he said, all fruits and vegetables blended up into shakes like juiced and use beans and other alternatives for his protein sources. From what i learned here in any cut or bodyfat lowering, sugars should stay minimal. as well you need high protein, is this type of diet horrible? would it be advised to " juice " your meals or should he do more of a conventional method, macros mapped out eating solid foods.
    Thanks

your cousin is not a weightlifter, correct?

calculate his tdee for him, then calculate his caloric intake. this diet works simply because it puts you in a calorie deficit. what is lacking is the fiber. suggest adding psyllium husk fiber while on this silly diet, that way at least his turds will come out clean instead of squirting all over the place and messing up the inside of the toilet.

these diets are typically high in simple carbs, which in the long run is not good for you. but again, these are usually short term diets.

personally, i'd recommend an Atkins diet for two months, then switch your cousin to a southbeach after that. i've done it before (not while lifting) and it does work wonders.

    just my .02

haha, hes been off working out from a while and got his self into bad shape, and he is lifting weights 4 times a week now as well as doing cardio. I personally wouldn't attempt this type of diet but just wanted to see everyones stand point, thanks !
