    Getting started

First off im new to all of this... my stats are
    Age 24
    Ht...6'5"
Weight....340 yes i know im big but working on that with yalls help...
    BFP....probably 40 percent to guess.

Well i use to be in great shape in high school and still lift weights and workout as always but i had started gaining weight in the belly region bad consider this in a year i have gained 80lbs. And i didnt have a clue except that diabetes runs in my family.... so i did what anyone would do and went to the doctor. Well come to find out i was not diabetic and my blood sugars still are normal and my body still adjusts its own blood sugars... with that being said my kidneys are fine but my pancreas was pumping double the amount of insulin into my body than it needed to. In return every time i ate anything my body was telling it it didnt need it and it would digest my food... other words just stacking the belly fat on.... so the doc says you need to take this medicine and put me on a 1800 calorie diet... and keep working out lose weight gain muscle and eat the fat away well i have since lost 40lbs bringing me to 340 yes that means i was 380.. i have now encountered a problem the weight just dont seem to be coming off and i am not getting any bigger muscle wise so i need your help... any suggestions would be helpful and i will answer any questions needed the picture is the only one right now i have will take more tonight

    Welcome!

Since we're talking about a potentially life threatening medical condition, my suggestion is you take all advice given here (including mine) with a grain of salt.

What was the medicine your doctor put you on? Have you consulted with him since hitting this plateau? Not that they have all the answers, but i'm curious.

Well guys the medication she put me on is metformin same thing a type 2 diabetic takes but she said the only real cure was to get my weighed gained back off and yes the medicine helps my insulin not over produce but i have consulted with my doctor about my want for supplemental help and she has an open mind and said although she dont condone anyone to do it i do not have diabetes so and since my blood sugars still regulate themselves i should have no more problems than anyone else on them but said she would like me to check up with her once a month and if i had any complications or concerns call her

Glucose disposal agent. Well, i'm glad to hear things appear normal. I don't have the time now but will try and help out shortly. In the meantime, definitely get a monthly check up as your doc suggested. Good to hear she's open minded, as so many are not.

At 340lbs and 40%bf (which would be very high but possible) ur BMR would still be @2350 cals per day.. To eat below this IMO seems incorrect.. But im not a doctor.. However since starting trt i have seen a lot of doctors do a lot of stupid incorrect things.. Medically they are pretty good but when it comes to nutrition and aspects of nutrition my opinion of them is not as confident..

Tbh, when somebody gets to your size (no offense), I don't even consider BMR/TDEE etc. You need to lose bodyfat, plain and simple. Somewhere in the 2000 calorie range is probably fine for you. As long as you're not starving yourself, you don't have to worry about burning LBM. Your body has plenty of bodyfat to burn and has no reason to dip into muscle stores. At this point, you just need to eat a calorie restricted diet and be active - i.e. cardio and weight trainining. You don't even have to go crazy with either right now. Anything will produce results if you're consistent. My .02

Well thanks again for the welcome all and yes i understand fully that i am a big guy and to tell you the truth i hit the gym twice a day on my way to work in the morning i do my cardio and after work i do my weight training but to be honest im not that bad i have not an oz of fat on my arms nor my legs they are fine but with my pancreas problem i was having i gained weight in my belly and chin and if you research it you will see that its only in them two places . But it has come off alot and will continue to come off because i will work but in the mean time something has to give my arms and legs are not getting any bigger on this diet but i was just hoping with yalls help i could reform a diet and help myself more in both aspects getting bigger stronger and losing weight

IMO u need to get ur bf chekd so we can see whAt ur wkn with.. At 6'5" u could end up a fairly heavy weight and still be fairly lean.. 280lbs at 15% bf would put 42lbs of fat on u still which seems like a lot but 15% while not lean is also not fat

Ill help u with ur diet but the formula i use is based on lean body mass.. To figure that out we need ur bf %..

Using another formula which does seem to run close to the one i use i get ur:
    bmr: 2991
    Tdee: 4112

Used 1.375 multiplier to be safe.. IMO u should do fine at 2800cals to start.. and see how u fare..

    2800cals
    380g pro
    180g carbs
    62g fat

Split ur protein evenly between 6 meals
Split ur carbs evenly in ur first 4 meals (assuming u workout in here somewhere)
Fat we can see where u end up..

Protein sources: chicken breast, lean ground beef, eggwhites, pro powder, cottage cheese (2%), canned tuna, fish...

Carb sources: oatmeal(regular not instant), brn rice, sweet potatoes, green veggies, lentils... Thats it!

    Cut out milk and fruit..

Cardio: 5-6days per week either am fasted or postworkout.. Start out with what u can do and try to improve each week.. I love the elliptical machine and recommend it for u! Its easier than running and better on knees and does just as good IMO..

Post ur proposed diet and ill chek it out!

    Questions??

Thanks 405 for the help. I had my bf checked and its 22.69% in return doc said is 80lbs. Of fat and if i was to lose that my ideal weight for my structure would be about 275 to 285 whichever i feel most comfortable at providing will cutting i dont lose any muscle but maybe this will help you and thank you again it is all appreciated greatly from all you guys believe it or not i feel better that im not 50% percent bf makes me more motivated to shed the rest to get my body back to normal and you guys are inspiring thanks BIG
