    Are all calories created equal?

For instance, is a 450 calorie protein shake the same as a 450 calorie McDonald sandwich? My wife is on a 1500 calorie a day diet. If she has one shake that is 1/3 her day. It doesn't sound right.

No. Look at the macro nutrient ratio....and ur bodies primary source of energy ...carbohydrates..... not equal at all. Not even close in terms of nutrient bioavailability either...that's all empty shit man

But it is right. Fat has 9cal per gram while protein and carbs have 4 per gram.

IMO total cals determine body weight but the macro split determines the body composition of that weight.

    405 got the point across.
if you ate 2000 cals of fat, 2000 cals of sugar, and 2000 cals of protein, those three people
    would all look different.
we honestly dont need that much fat. we just dont. our bodies aren't made for it.
look at all the diabetes/liver problems we have from high fat/sugar diets.

and sugar is the worst because of insulin and storage.

so long short...absolutely not. not equal at all.

For a woman not looking to build muscle what would be a good protine count per day?

40% protein 40% carbs 20% fats of total calorie intake.
