Low carbs leading to low sex drive?

Since lowering my carbs for cutting I have noticed a decrease in sex drive. Nothing else has changed in the aspects of my training or supplementation. I have currently been off of all AAS for close to a year and did not have any issues until I lowered my carbs. For the past 12 weeks or so my carbs have been much lower with higher days on occasion from cheat meals.

My bloodwork was normal last summer after being off 3 months. I had a very high libido and never had any issues. BUt it seems as if that changed when I changed my diet.

Therefore my question is, has anyone else noticed a loss in libido when lowering their carb intake?

Yes, I have experienced the exact same issue while on a low carb phase.

Sex requires physical energy, more importantly, stimulation always occurs on the brain first, which runs on glucose, so go figure why this may be happening to you on a low carb diet.

I know for a fact there will be disagreement over this subject, you will hear other members with the opposite feedback that they still have the same kind of sex drive on an IM diet or so on, but everyone is different as we all know it.

Great point Turk. I was reading about Keto the other day and it had a section of utilization of glucose in the brain so this would make sense.

I think I may get bloodwork again just to see if there is a true difference in testosterone. For me personally I do not notice much of a loss in energy nor do I have an issue with the physical energy involved with sex. I simply lose the desire when lowering my carbs
