I don't see a need to spike your insulin to an excessive amount during PWO, and doing so may be a mechanism that contributes to the onset of type 2 mellitus diabetes and beta cell dysfunction. I would try to keep your blood sugar stable throughout the day, assuming you consume large quantities of carbohydrate daily, and remember that liver cell glycogen can be converted to glucose and returned to the blood (and then picked up by muscle) when insulin is low or absent. I would suggest eating a well balanced meal PWO with a solid combination of mostly complex, low glycemic carbohydrate, and protein.

ok, just reading a lot of old nutritional journals and seeing alot of dextrose being used PWO. thanks so hitting a shake and then 1 cup oatmeal should be a safer bet?

Unnecessary, stick with Oats or something complex.
