how do you know it wont kill you?

id go out on a limb and say that the amount of sugar in a regular coke is enough to cause you a life time of illness.

you should understand a few things about this lifestyle mate. there are easy things one can do, and there are hard things one can do. cutting out yyour daily coca~cola is an EASY thing. Most of us here do NOT drink soda pop. And we do so for a reason.

A difficult thing would be to draft a very clean diet in here, and then religiously sticking to it for long periods of time.

If you are still drinking your daily soda pop, no disrespect intended, but you are probably slacking in a lot of other "easy to fix" areas as well. As such, I'm willing to bet $1 that if you cannot quit the soda pop, then you will not get very far. But that's ok if that's what you want to do.

    I shouldn't but I do
I drink 1 can of coke per day (3-4 days a week) pre-workout
I can't drink anything with artificial sweeteners n this helps me power through my boring diet n kill the sweet craving.

Coke has rediculous amount of sugar, go look on the back of the can or bottle.

Why would you want to bust your ass doing 30mins of cardio for nothing? Just to burn off 1 coke?

I don't know about you but if my main goal is to burn some bodyfat that I'm carrying around, I'm going to waste my time drinking a coke.

why not drink a diet coke or diet dew man?

40(or so) g high fructose corn syrup is a cutting diet breaker if consumed daily IMO. maybe once per week with a cheat meal but i even keep those at bay when cutting.

from the looks of u ur fairly lean anyways so u may be able to get away with it from a fat gain perspective.

and actually over a period of time coke every day may contribute to ur death. i read an article written by a major cardiologist who travels worldwide trying to educate people in an effort to prevent heart attacks and he listed some of the key ingredients that contribute to them. sugar/hfcs, stress, inflammation were in the top 5 contributing factors.

You're right, it probably won't kill you. At least not right away. It will probably stop you from achieving the body of your dreams however. You're not much different from the majority of the population though, who also drink soda. Then again, the rest of the population won't achieve the body of their dreams either...

    TR already said it best.

I like Coke too. When I crave soda, I'll have a Coke Zero. Tastes insanely close to regular Coke, without the HFCS/sugar. On a very strict cut, i'd probably ditch that as well. It all depends on how bad you want it (the body, not the gotdamn coke!).

Any truth with the idea that our mind over body can reproduce insulin spikes when we drink diet drinks simulating sugar insulin spikes?

I have had one diet soda in the last week. I usually drink water.

I used to be a 4-5 full sugar soda a day kind of person. When i began my cut I drank only water for three months. After that it makes it easy to just drink water and have a diet soda on occasion

Idk man... i'm into practical nutrition and physiology. Sounds like bs to me, but the mind/body connection is a very complex thing that we barely understand... so who knows.

Should be easy enough to test the theory at home though.

Same here. Right now i'm addicted to Poweraid Zero - I just enjoy it. The only gripe is the sodium is high, so when I get lean i'll have to ditch it, but for now, it's good stuff!

im a cola addict myself, so is my gf.. its because we eat super-clean - just dry oats and chicken breast, so during the week we get no taste at all, unless we allow ourselves to spend some money on some expencive stuff like tomatoes...

i drink Cola Zero for years, my gf drinks Cola Light(she like the taste better... i think its sick )

at start, Cola Zero seems to taste like crap if you're used to normal one but when you go for months without Coke or ANY taste in your mouth at all, just dry oats and water, the taste of ice cold Cola Zero seems like an orgasm.

Next time you really want that soda just head to the kitchen and dump out 30 grams of sugar on the table. Would you take a spoon a proceed to stuff that in your face?

Don't know about this one, however I do have a diabetic grandmother that had to stop using splenda because it spiked her blood sugar almost as bad as real sugar.

See ! That's the same reason for me I only tend to have a glass of coke when I'm munching a bowl of tuna though.

    now thats interesting!

One of the first and easiest changes you can make to a diet is by removing sodas and candies. You need to learn to love water.

Yep, there's controversy over Splenda causing spikes. Are they certain that's what was causing it? Also, did they have her try something else - e.g. Stevia?

This was back before stevia hit the market. She just went back to using equal because the aspartame in sweet n low gave her headaches.

Faaaaaaaark! a 6 pack? Glad you're still around to talk about it. What about the US citizzens with all the HFCS in their soft drinks. That HFCS stuff is nasty.

Personally since iv started i haven't drank any fizzy drink/ cordial since i started lifting. on a cheat day i like to have a nice big glass of peach ice tea with my meal after being deprived from such makes it the best feeling when you do have it trust me haha,, but yeah Full cream milk and water i dont drink anything else, i guess you wouldn't have to completely cut it out your lifestyle though, cant see the harm in the 1 off glass on your cheat day, its not going to kill your. It all comes down to how serious you take your training and your gains i just like to reward myself with such on a cheat day. lifting is a very difficult sport compared to soccer and what not.

Nasty.... and addictive. American products are loaded with the stuff. The majority of the population are uneducated with regards to nutrition and throw whatever is in front of them down the ol' gullet... it's no wonder we're so obese as a nation.
