    Pw ppw

As soon as I finish my workout I have my protein shake, does that mean I dont need to have a proper meal til 2 hours after my protein shake or does ur body quickly absorb those nutrients so you need to eat again shortly after the shake

i normally have my protein shake straight after the workout and then have a meal consisting of carbs and protein within the hour. protein takes 4 hours to be digested so its probably better eating sooner rather then later, also depend on the absorption rate of you shake aswel. i use a gerneral rule of thumb, as long as i've not consumed over 70g protein within a 3 hour space its orite, anything more would prob just get wasted.

I eat 1-2 hours after my PWO meal. However I use fast absorbing nutrients with little to no fat for PWO and fast absorption. Protein takes 2 hours to digest (typically), NOT 4(unless your using Casein or meal has lots of fat in it. Fat takes four hours to digest(typically). Anyway it depends on what your PWO ingredients consists of. Fast or slow absorption...

Well, I tend to wait anywhere from 2 to 6 hours after a workout to eat anything. As a result I have lost all the muscle I worked so hard for. If someone cannot get a meal in right away, I suggest freakign out as much as possible, make sure to make a scene of so that every person in ear shot will know how hardcore you are about diet. There are no gains made without obsessive compulsive eating and hardcore attention to every little last detail, because every microgram of muscle counts. Also, lets not forget if you don't get in 8 meals a day, your metabolism will completely stop and you will start to gain bodyfat, even in a calorie deficit. You need to consume more calories to burn more calories. and I know all of this because the guy at my gym who is ripped told me so.

I think he was kidding, he is a strong advocate for IF. Unless you were kidding also. I apologize.

The moral to the story is, don't sweat it if the meals arent at the exact same moment everyday or hour. You will be fine if you diet is in check OP.

you sure its 2 hours for protein? i was under the impression it took 2 hours for any protein meat to go from the stomach into the small intestine where it took another 2 hours to then be taken into the blood.

Yes I am sure. A balanced meal that consists of all Macro's will usually take 3 hours to go from the stomach to the small intestine. (Which is where nutrients are absorbed and energy becomes available). Also to note if you dont already know it Carbs and Fats are your main source of energy, not protein. If a meal consist of just protein it takes two hours to digest. Carbs only digest in an hour. Fat only digest in 4 hours. This info comes right out of one of my personal trainer books, Im not shooting smoke up your pipes.
