    Protein shake after cardio?

    Hello,

    After I workout with weights I enjoy a refreshing shake with some carbs.

    I was wondering if it's necessary to replenish yourself with a shake after a cardio session? is water sufficient?

    Thoughts?

    Well it depends on what type of cardio you performed and for how long...

    If it was a HIIT session I would treat it almost like a weights session.... Taking in some protein (no carbs for me here though)...

    If it was a long, slow and stead cardio I would just take in some water and BCAA'S....


    But really it does not matter too much.... Don't over think it.... Think more on a daily basis... Ie. your food intake over the day

    Agreed, and to add to this - I definitely wouldn't say it's necessary, but I also don't feel it will hurt or hinder progress. I might limit/omit carbs however, as Base suggested.

    I have a whey shake after my high intensity cardio many times and LOVE IT! Makes me happy.....
