    Getting a Juicer

So I have been thinking about getting a juicer. Anyone have experience with them? I know the model I want to buy but I'm wondering if the vitamins in the vegetables get degraded at all bein that processed?

your body will absorb the food a lot faster if you juice it so you will not burn as many calories digesting it.

I have one, just got it recently. Mine is a Breville Centrifugal Juicer. Were you looking at centrifugal, or masticating? Supposedly the juice quality is better with the masticating variety due to the way it works, i.e. the centrifugal juicers have a blade that spins and heats up the juice enough to kill *some* of the enzymes. Both have positives and negatives and you should really do some research before investing your money.

IMO, if you have a tough time getting in enough veggies (I do), this is way better than nothing. It sure as hell can't hurt!

I just bought the magic bullet juicer. Reviews were all positive. To tell the truth I have no idea about the types and the spinning but I'll tell you how it works when I use it tomorrow!

Juicing is awesome, but I think blending your veggies and fruit in a high powered blender such as a vitamix, is a step up. I think when you blend you get much more out of your fruits and veggies. I've been making a vitamix kale shake everyday for about a year. I highly recommend a vitamix. Google joe rogan kale shake recipe for a hardcore shake. I'm not that hardcore with mine, but use a ton of kale.

I need to start doing this. I love V8 low sodium veggie juice but it gets expensive and its pasteurized.

yeah they are pricey, but you can find them on sale every once in a while. They definitely are the ferrari of blenders. It took me about a year to pull the trigger, but now that I have been using it everyday for the past year I wish I would have bought one sooner. Honestly one of the best investments I have ever made! Prime health=priceless

I have a Jack Lalanes Power Juicer Express. The wife bought it on sale and had a coupon, etc and paid 60bucks. Regularly 100 or so. Love it.

She buys 3 packages of carrots and 3 packages of celery a week for my juice. I always add cucumber, cilantro, spinach, cabbage or something else to it and use the juice for my protein shakes.

How would you count the macros on the juice you blend. Would you weigh the fruits and veggies first or weigh the juice after?

Count the macros of everything in the raw form since you are not cooking them.

    depends on the juicer

I just got a new one from omega, its a slow speed juicer good for keeping things from getting degraded.

Masticating? How do you like it? I may switch eventually (currently have a centrifugal), but I already find it to be a lot of work between prep, cleanup, etc. and that will only be more difficult and time consuming with a masticating juicer.

I purposely ignored your post because I don't want to get pissed by admitting I spent too much on a Breville!

    I knew it!!!

It's okay, I did the same thing... like I said I spent like $400 about 4 or 5 years ago on mine.... don't even use it anymore, I gave to my parents.... but the Vitamix is deadly, I promise
