my fitness pal
I saw someone on here recommending this app and I got it and love it. However, when I was entering my gym activities today I noticed it doesn't knock any calories off for strength training, only for cardio activity. This isn't a huge deal, but for as detailed and as big as the food list is I thought it would subtract calories for strength training. I think the best thing about the app though is the barcode scanner so far it's worked on everything I've scanned.

I use fitnesspal as well, and love it. I'm having trouble meeting some of my goals on there, but overall it's an awesome app

It's a really cool app but after a few days it becomes cumbersome. It would be OK if I ate 3 meals daily.

Austinite I just put the extra meals under snacks. It's definitely easier than reading through all of the labels and writing everything down.

I just got it and don't really like it. Simply having a diet planned and sticking to it its easier for me.

I think it's a good app it dies take a bit of time but if you are eating similar things everyday it shouldn't be a problem. There is a button which says Multi Add what helps

I like the app, except it always seems to go down. It's also a lot of work inputting every meal. I've started planning my meals for the week, and cooking and freezing them all at once. Then I'm just using it to add up all the macros for each day of the week, instead of looking up the macros for every bit of food and adding it up. This way I only use it once a week, and as long as I eat my premade meals every day, I know I'm hitting my macros and only have to do the work once a week.
Of course, this is what I was doing......
Damn turkey dinners...

Changed it online but my app hasn't updated. I re-synced and re-logged in on the app but no luck yet. Hoping it updates in time.
BTW, that default macro split is insane.. lol 15/75/10 (p/c/f)

Hmmm.. My online has the correct macros but my phone app still won't reflect the changes. I've logged in 4 different times now, a couple times before and a couple after I re-installed it, no luck. Gonna keep messing with it.

I just downloaded the app for iPhone. And I was curious as to why it says 15-18% proteins?? According to the app I only need 89 grams of protein. I weigh 142 and 5'8".
I've also read in some healthy eating forums that the 1 gram of protein per body weight is completely false. What's the consensus (knowing the 1 gram/pp is almost common knowledge here)?

it all depends on your goals on how much to eat
i weigh 164 and try to consume 225-250g of protein everyday, roughly 50-55% of my daily caloric intake
hope this helps

Really good for when you start logging your meals and keeping track of macros and calories. I recommend it to most people when they ask me about diet because tracking your average weekly intake is the first real step to sorting a good strong diet in my opinion. I did use it before when I was changing foods but now everything is prepared and I practically eat the same thing every day I have no need for it really.

I'm just getting into keeping track of my calorie consumption. My diet is pretty good, low carbs, low fat, high protein, and low sodium. The app has also opened my eyes to how many calories are in the average junk food and sugar drinks. I'll work on the macro part once I lose some weight and get back into my routine, which has been going good for 3 weeks now. So do you just go to the myfitness pal website? I only thought it was an app for your phone.

I love this app. I have found that adding foods to the My Foods category simplifies a great deal, as does creating Meals and using that for quick adds like breakfast, and using the recipes section when making dinner or other things I eat often, I used it today for making Chili so I knew how to do calculate it all, this allows you to calculate portion size and know protein and carbs also sodium and makes for quick add for left overs. It does take a little time when you add items but after that it is done and you select your creation next time. Also scrolling through frequent and recent foods makes things faster. The data base is also very good IMHO and I think when someone makes additions to things the app. adds these creations like a meal from Chipotle or Subway, we all cheat or get busy while running around and I can almost always find what I am eating or a close sub. Hope this helps some.
