    Please critique my diet...

Ok, So some might remember(most likely not) that I posted up a diet a little while back and I was basically told by the nutrition nazis that my diet was shit. So I looked around and made some adjustments so now I'm asking for another critique. YOu guys also told me I was drinking WAY to much milk ( since I was downing about a gallon a day) I really like milk but I cut it back a little.

    5 A.M.
    5g BCAA
    1 cup oats
    1 Pint 2% milk

    560 cal/78c/26p/15f

    6a.m.-9a.m.
    1 pint skim

    220 cal/24c/16p/0f

    9 A.M.
    3 oz beef jerkey
    1 pint 2%

    470cal/36c/46p/13f

    Noon
3.5 oz boneless skinless chicken breast
2 pieces of whole wheat bread
    1 pint of skim milk

    500cal/30c/45p/6f

    2 P.M.
1 cup reduced fat greek yogurt
    1/2 scoop whey protein

    150cal/25c/25p/5f

    3:15 PRE-WORKOUT
    5g BCAA
    1 scoop creatine

    WORKOUT

    4:45 POST-WORKOUT
    1 scoop whey protein
    2 cups skim milk
    10 pixy stix
    L-glutamine
    creatine

    525cal/46p

    6:30/6:45
7 oz boneless skinless chicken breast
    large potato
    1 cup cooked rice

    610cal/66c/63p/9f

    8:45
    1 cup casein protein

    170 cal/?c/24p/

My diet will vary slightly from day to day but thats roughly

    3100 calories
    275 carbs
    290-300g protein
    70-80g fat

I would post a link to my previous thread for comparison but I cant because I don't have enough posts.

So, thoughts? possible changes I could still make?

    stats
    6'1"

A vivid example of a horrible diet that rather aims at a daily caloric intake mostly from micro-nutrients as opposed to macro-nutritional meals.

Oh, where do I even start...

    1. You don't need 300gr of protein at your current body weight.

    2. You need to start eating actual meals instead of chugging down that milk and all the supplements you are currently using. You ought to sit down and eat a real breakfast that consist of oats and eggs, for instance.

    3. You need to incorporate a broader selection of protein, complex carbs and unsaturated fats to your diet. Fish, red meat (steak instead of beef jerky), oats, sweet potato, quinoa, fibrous vegetables, nuts, seeds, EVOO and so forth. Your diet resembles that of a diet of a space cowboy living on a cattle-ranch on Mars: milk, supplements, more milk, more supplements...

I am not actually go ahead and adjust your diet for you before it gets confirmed that there is an understanding of the notion of ''eating whole meals'' on your behalf.

Arnold also spoke against milk in Pumping Iron.

At any rate, old school bodybuilders didn't understand the "lactose intolerant" element. They would bloat after dairy consumption and assume it was "fat" gained.

Today, we know better: milk is a great liquid food for bulking UNLESS one is lactose intolerant;however, consuming milk and dairy products for that matter is not advised while cutting simply because milk has too much sugar. I am positive old school bodybuilders also cut back on milk and dairy products while dieting for contest, if not completely removed them from their cutting diets.

I understand that I dont need that much protein, part of it is habit and its difficult to break at this point.. I dont eat fish, steak, hamburger...... or alot of lean meats at all for that matter. Not because I dont want to, I just cant. I have a really bad gag/vomit reflex and alot of foods that I should be eating are not fesible. I cant get within 5 feet of fish without wanting to vomit. Thankfully, I can tolerate chicken breast. I have been getting oats in for breakfast, but eggs are another one of those foods that I cant tolerate. Also someone said in my last thread that my beef jerkey was ok and that it could stay in my diet.

I do understand that my diet is based more on caloric needs, than protein/carb/fat needs...But My real issue is that 90% of food that is good for the human body and that you would probably call delicious, I would call disgusting. I cant control it and I wish it wasnt to this extreme. I have read through the stickies and the one listing a bunch of good carbs, proteins and fats were majority foods that I cant eat. I also understand that my "meals" are not balanced. but thats why I'm here. I'm struggling setting up a healthy muscle building diet that I can maintain and I'm desperately seeking help. I have lived a very unhealthy lifestyle and trying my hardest to fix it. All I use to do was eat pizza, drink pop and smoke cigs and 420. I no longer smoke.. ANYTHING. I dont drink pop and have completely cut pizza out of my diet..But thats all I survived on for MANY years and Its been a difficult change...I honestly thought this diet was a massive improvement from where I was at. If you guys are willing to help..great, I appreciate it, If you feel I'm a lost cause, then i'm sorry for wasting your time.

I do manage to get some nuts in but those are also difficult for me since I have fake teeth and they get under my bottom teeth and hurt like a mofo. I also take an omega 3 pill every day.

I read somewhere that pixie stix are good after a hard workout because it creates an insulin spike and helps refuel glycogen stores. Easily something I can cut out if I was mistaken.

I did listen, and I have cut back some, but I really like milk, and no one actually told me WHY I shouldnt drink it, they just said stop. I also drink alot of water. But if I drank less milk, I would be more likely to drink pop which was a really difficult habit for me to break since I use to drink 8-12 cans a day and sometimes even more than that and i'm desperately trying to avoid falling back into that routine.

And as far as the milk goes, I dont feel any ill side effects, some occasional bloating but it not really that bad. I honestly feel much better on the days that I get more milk. But thats just me and everyone is different.

    Thanks

jerkey is a good source of protein BUT its LOADED with salt....many reason to limit that from ur diet.

ur havin roughly two glasses of milk with almost every meal....a lot of milk equals a lot of sugar

good job with the quitting of smoking btw....

changing ur diet is a very difficult thing to do but once u start its fairly easy to keep goin....what kinds of meats do u like or u can eat

To be honest, chicken is about the only quality lean meat I can eat without wanting to gag or throw up, thats what makes things difficult for me when it comes to adding variety. I eat beef jerkey so I can add something a little different. I'm really good at being routine so once I can get going with a good meal plan, I'll be ok. But I'm just not good with nutrition.

And thanks, so far, I havent smoked in about 5 months now and have been putting that money towards food instead. And for the record, I have already cut the pixy stix out based on the reactions I have gotten so far.

at $6 a pack and about a pack a day, sometimes more, I was spending about $200 a month just on cigs, and thats not counting the other stuff I use to smoke... about $180 a month for that.. So yes, I have deffinately seen an improvement in my bank account after I quit smoking.

peppers and onions are out of the question also..... but mmmmmmmm chicken and milk, lol. I do the occasional chicken salad, rice, and grilled chicken. Chicken and pineapple sounds pretty good also. But i have never been much of a cook so i'm trying to learn as I go since pretty much everything I use to eat was either microwaved, or pulled from a box and tossed into an oven. No prep or ACTUAL cooking.

After today i'm going to significantly drop my milk intake down to 1-2 pints of skim milk a day and try to focus more on ACTUAL food. So thats 2-4 servings a day instead of 16-20...That seems like a significant decrease to me.

Thank you for that article, it was an eye opener for sure. Like I said above, pixie stix will no longer be in my PWO or meal plan in general.
