    Pre diabetic

    My wife just found out after blood work for hypoglycemia that she is pre-diabetic

    Is there anything special or any advise to follow for diet specific to this condition\?

    Hmmm. Sorry to hear that. I am diabetic but controlled with diet , exercise and oral med.

    small meals, low glycemic, limit sugar, eating regular like every 3 hours., limit processes foods and even fruit. Eat fibrous veggies and more protein. Watch for hidden sugars in sauces, dressings etc....

    Was she fasting at the time of the test?

    Was it an A-1-C test or just a standard blood glucose meter?

    As GGR said, I am pretty sure with diet and exercise she can turn this around.

    GGR, what's meds are you taking?

    She did a fasted test...it showed her blood sugar high, followed up with another test where they did fasted BW then consumed glocose and drew blood again. Doc is now planning to schedule the A1C test!

    gotcha and that sounds like protocol

    they might put her on Actos or metformin but i believe that if she changes her lifestyle up some, she can overcome this with diet and exercise alone

    She exercise alot and is working on changing the diet AGAIN! As I have said...she lost over 80lbs and this was the reward...go figure!

    80lbs is freakin awesome! did she lose it quick or gradually? i count diet as more important than just exercise alone. trust me!

    maybe so.
    Took her about 3 years...she has kept it off for another 4 or so now. Changed her whole lifestyle of course. Never had any health issues when she wa heavy...what a friggin deal.

    Now she has to work on adjusting her diet again to avoid blood sugar issues.

    the human body is crazy! that's why i love it!

    how are her hormones? in check or all over the map? i know you will be the one to really know, hehehe

    She went on HRT (test/estro) about a year ago! Life is pretty good NOW lol!

    Low test but given the combo med. I cant speak for sure but I'm not sure the reaction of adding test in women causes the increase in estrogen. So both are given! Has worked friggen wonders.

    Interesting. She will be going in for 1 more Blood test yet. At this point I believe it can be controlled with diet, but for how long is anyones guess!
