    Dates for Post workout nutrition?

Since I've been using a lot of supplements and I don't want to add another one like Maltodextrin for PWO. I've been using natural dates..In my opinion they are better and have more nutritional value. So a Protein shake with berries and Couple of large dates will do the trick for Post workout?

I also use dates 15 minutes prior to working out for a quick energy with bcaa's... Good idea?

Also does it have to be brown rice? Can't we eat regular rice like golden basmati for PPWO meal? I just don't like the taste of brown rice and it takes longer to cook..Hard to chew for me as well..

Any rice for any meal is fine. I haven't thought about using dates... to each his own but wouldn't be my preference.

You can use white rice, I use white basmati rice. It kind of depends on your goals though. Off the top of my head I would say dates are quite sweet, probably a lot of sugar. Post up your full diet In the nutrition section. You might be able to substitute some bits. I'm sure you'll get the help you need! :£

Yes, dates are very sweet and have a lot of sugar, but they are also nutritious..,isn't it a good thing for insulin spike after workout? I know people using it with some benefits.

This is a relief to know some people eat regular rice not a brown rice..I never eat brown rice..My goal is to bulk up and gain mass..I just need to improve my appetite and eat more calories..

I realize you're new here, but to be honest this topic/debate has been beaten to death on this board. Rather than rehash it all here, I'd urge you to use the search feature. You'll find a PLETHORA of opinions on the topic.

as far as dates for PWO nutrition go i havent had a whole lotta luck with them. typically the girl thinks im strange for inviting her out just to have a protein shake and some oatmeal. not to mention i have gotten a fair amount of complaints about being sweaty and in gym clothes.. i dont think ill be doing it anymore!
