Thread: Carbs late morning and for pre/post workout.

Carbs late morning and for pre/post workout.

I love Keto diets, they work very well, but I always put myself at risk for losing muscle. I think I can get into ketosis in a short period of time. I just want to know how eating carbs (complex mostly) at certin times might effect ketosis. I am still looking at keeping carbs at around 80g a day. I am trying to cycle carbs into the diet. Maybe like 30g at lunch, 20g before workout and 30 after or something like that. Just wondering how some like incorporating carbs into a lean mass diet. I know its not easy building muscle and burning fat at the same time. do some time carb intake?

You are unlikely to go into ketosis at above 25g carbs per day.

All due respect, but i have different opinion. If he's already in ketosis, and if was training hard, 80 gr carbs would be burnt off and he'd stay i keto foe the remainder of the day. No carbs would be taken pwo though.

What's the point of eating carbs on a keto diet when the whole purpose of being on it is to use ketones as fuel, not carbs. Even IF he timed his intake and training correctly AND managed to burn that 80g carbs during his workout, he would be out of ketosis for at least 3 hours and not be burning fat during that time. What's the point?

You are entitle to a different opinion but my comment that 25g complex carbs would take him out of ketosis is correct.

Having said this I think the OP is confused (no offence intended) and that he is thinking he is running a keto but is simply running a low carb diet. Perhaps you could shed some light on this OP?

This may be a dumb question but why don't you just buy the strips that you pee on and then it tells you if you have ketones in your urine? Diabetics do this when their blood sugars are high for a long time.
