    intra workout nutrition?

just been reading a thread about intra workout carbs and not really needing them of you time your pre/post workout meals correctly. ive been sipping on vitargo whilst training lately to help with my energy levels as i struggle with this sometimes due to how much my job wears me down physically. i was also thinking about adding some creatine to it. am i wasting my time?

Try it.. See how u feel with the carbs intra workout...

However, intra and even pre-workout carb intake is not going to be the biggest factor in your performance durring a workout... Nutrition as a whole will be...

Maybe try having a cup of coffee half hour before you train or some other source of caffeine to give you a lift. Low energy could be due to any number of things, but is a common symptom of insulin crash. May I suggest you keep an eye on your sugar intake, try to keep it below 30g per day. (this will balance you blood sugar levels) Do a little trail with what I have suggested, See if it helps.

Completely unnecessary IMHO, so long as you're eating a solid preworkout meal 1.5 - 2 hours prior to training. Having said that, it can't hurt, assuming adding mass is the primary goal vs. burning bodyfat.

In that case, feel free to continue, so long as you're counting calories/macros towards your daily total. Like I said, if you're getting proper preworkout nutrition I don't find this necessary, but like you said - it could just be mental (your sluggishness) and even if this just provides a placebo, it's a benefit nonetheless.

For your goals, I'd go with a good protein/complex carb meal preworkout. Any lean protein source is fine, but I wouldn't use straight whey powder personally. Carbs could be anything - oats, rice, potato, grits, lentils/beans, etc. I'd add a small amount of fat to slow digestion as well.

Post workout - I'd do another protein/carb meal. I'm not a big proponent of the 'I MUST get my PWO nutrition in IMMEDIATELY PWO!!!' but since you're asking about intra workout, you might be. If so, i'd suggest a simple PWO shake and a 'real' meal about an hour later - protein/carb.

Different strokes for different folks I suppose. Again, there's nothing 'wrong' with it - but I always like to point out that it's not necessary like a lot of people think. i.e. you will not lose your 'magical anabolic window'.

Water right from the fountain!! I used to drink BCAAs until I realized it was just over priced kool aid. Like GB said have a meal 1.5ish hours before you train, some oats and some lean protein, should be more than enough to get you through a work out.

I use gaspari sizeon and I like it, 2/3 of the time I train at 3-4am so I am obviously fasted, so I rely heavily on this product, when I am not at work pre workout nutrition is very important to me I wake up hungry early I have a quick snack then back to bed for a couple of hours, then I will generally eat my next meal being half a dozen egg whites and 250g of cooked brown rice stirred together, an hour after that ill smash down my preworkout which is gaspari superpump, I am then in the gym sipping on my sizeon, once done with the gym I consume a scoop of whey protein with 50g oats as I'm driving home then after a hour or so ill prepare a meal which is 400g kangaroo 2x tortilla whole grain wraps and 2 cups of spinach..
