Hi guys.
I just wanna to ask about your opinion here.. Lets talk about pre contest diet based on low carbs/carbs cycling.
Lets say macros for last 6 week pre contest would look like this:
Person:
weight 211-213lbs (96kg)
8% bf 6 weeks out
goal: 4% bf which means loosing like 9-10lbs (4-4,5kg) of fat in 6 weeks with maintaining all muscle tissue. AS of course included.
Typical day:
morning whey protein shake (50g protein)
850g lean meat (chicken/fish/turkey)
0g or 100g or 200g of carbs from rice
600-800g vegetables (broccoli, spinach, tomatoes, pepper, green beans etc..)
this all divided in 6 meals during a day every 2 hours.
post workout whey protein shake (50g protein)
night casein protein shake (50g protein) with 30g nuts
Speaking of macro nutrients this all is cca:
350g protein/day
0g or 100g or 200g carbs/day
under 50g fat/day
Now I wanna know what do you think about this diet at first.
And the other thing I wanted to discuss are cheat days... What do you think about including 2 cheat days during which this competitor can "eat whatever he wants". After 10-11 days strictly on this diet so like 4,5 weeks out and 3 weeks out. The cheat day would be on a day off (only cardio day) and main idea behind this is to let the competitor rest for one day. I mean rest physically and mentally. He could eat whatever.. sushi, pizza, pies, chocolate, ice cream, fruits as much as desired anytime during the day as desired.
Now I am following few things which could be very much beneficial in the bigger picture by this:
1) after 10-14 days on such a low carbs, metabolism will be slowed for sure so one day eating should skyrocket the metabolism for next week or so
2) after 10-14 days on carbs under 200g glycogen levels should be very low, so during this day it would be replenished (like carb up), which could be very beneficial for upcoming week training sessions. Higher weights, higher intensity better results, more muscle mass...
3) physical and mental "day off" for a person on strict diet pre contest has to be positive
The problem is that all these thoughts are just my guesses and I don't really have anything to backup this. So I am asking for the opinion, personal experience and so on on this subject. Have anyone of you here tried something like this? What could be bad or not beneficial affects of a day like this for next days fat loss/trainings and overall to the prep?
