    My Bulking/Cutting/Cycling Log

Been "bulking" for a couple years now... slow and steady bulking. Started at 150# back in 2011 I'm now at 195# about 12% bf 5'10". I try to eat about 5000 calories a day and get at least 200g of protein. I'm a very hard gainer... I have worked very hard to get where I'm at. I've done 1 cycle so far (last pin was mid Jan) and it helped me get past my plateau at 185. I will be doing another cycle around mid May. My goal weight will be 220, although in April I'm going to cut down as much as possible (without losing my muscle gains) for 6 weeks for vacation on the beach. Feel free to subscribe, offer input, criticism is encouraged!
Oh Yeah I'm 29 very close to 30(May)!

Imho Cardio is better for abs then any other type of ab workout..... I haven't done a sit up in years.... I actually think that doing sit ups makes you look fatter and the last thing I want is to make my ab muscles larger... Just strip the fat and the abs will be there

Gotta disagree with you here HP. A combination of both ab work and cardio is the best recipe IMO. The former will help develop them like any other muscle group, and the latter will 'reveal' them.

As for sit-ups/ab work making you look fatter - I disagree on this as well. Developing abs, to me, is making them 'pop'. They're a relatively small muscle group and are only going to get so big. That thick waisted 'barrely' look a lot of pro's have is not the result of ab work, assuming that's the 'fat' look you're referring to (I don't like that look either).

Having said that, I wouldn't go nuts working them. Once, maybe 2 times per week is plenty - and 10 billion reps isn't necessary either. They're a muscle... treat em' as such.

I haven't done cardio in years... I walk quite a bit at work but like I said before I'm trying to gain and am a very hard gainer. I have the abs built so when I do cut they will be on blast!

My fuel for today! Notice my breakfast is rediculous but I work a crazy 12 hr schedule overnight so some days I just eat what I can on my days I work. Tomorrow will be a different story since I'm off work tonight... probably be more like 6 eggs and a bagel or oatmeal.

Was under my calorie goal for the day... weight today was at 197 after workout. Probably be 194 when I wake up! I need a good leg workout tomorrow. Any BB leg suggestions? Time to switch it up a little.

10 sets of 10 reps squat..... Start super low if your normally a 300lb 10rep person start with 155 if your in the 4-5humdreds start at 225lbs.... If you completely all ten sets and all reps then 4-6 days later repeat and add 5lbs

Holy shit that sucked bad!!! After five min I wanted to stop but pushed through. Keep in mind this is my first run in a couple of years... Feel great about it tho! Ran 2 miles on soft gravel trail and tracked my run with runkeeper app so I can motivate for improvement. My calves are on fire! How often should I do this???

THANKS!!!! My cal intake is 5000 a day... which I failed yesterday due to my 12 hrs of catching up on sleep. I was thinking every other day would probably be good. The Run app said I only burned 229 calories but I know it was more than that due to the terrain. Not a lot more maybe double that.

I will agree it is good and will keep fat gain to minimum. It also allows you to eat more cals but its not necessary a lot on a bulk.

For me no matter how hard I bulk I would never want to break 10% bf or it would take 6mos or more to get into contest shape without burning too much muscle....I have about the fastest metabolism of any of my close bodybuilding friends and I can't stay under 10%bf with 6,000-7,000 cals a day without 20-40min of cardio each day.... If you can then more power to you

I'm gonna try it out I'm solid everywhere but my abs and I know bulking and having abs is very uncommon but I'm not in a big hurry to gain. I'm at a point finally I can mess around and see how my body reacts to different things. I really want my abs to pop!

Mostly leftovers today but it's all much needed calories and I hate to see good food go to waste!
Starting a "clean" diet on Monday! That's the plan anyway... my wife's idea!

If your bulking you need to remember your still on a diet.... Just because your trying to put on size down mean you want to put on any bf..... I would hope not to ever loose my abs due to bulking too hard.... Also I find it much easier to build muscle when I'm around 8-10%bf.... At this range I can visually see changes that are occurring... There is an added benefit here as at 8-10% I could be back to contest shape in 8-10wks "I would probably shoot for 12.... Any more then that and you are bound to loose most if not all your hard earned mass gains..... Btw unless you naturally have very large ab muscles; you will prob never see them too much over that 10% mark.... This is just me tho....

If you can then more power to you
I'm just saying there is more freedom from cardio on a bulk! Obviously the more you eat, assuming A lean bulk, more cardio is needed

I see where you are coming from and that's where I'm trying to get to now... I would say my bf is around 12%-13%..would you agree??? keep in mind I started out about 2 years ago at 150 and am now very close to 200 and it's almost ALL muscle gain. I have a very high matabolism as well and I don't just eat anything and everything it's hard to get my calories in every day to get the gains I want and I'm still learning new stuff. Now I'm trying to get lean and still gain at the same time, if that makes any sense. That's why I'm willing to give this running the trails a good run and see what happens. I'll take any advice into consideration as well.

Had no idea a log like this exists in amazon. Interesting.
