I'm getting pretty tired of oatmeal every morning. Buddy of mine suggested Ezekiel bread. You guys have any other ideas?

Damn me for not thinking if them!
I just need a solid carb for mornings. I'm always rushing kids out the house and running to work in the morning so I don't have time to sit and eat. I'm usually eating oatmeal on the road as I'm downing my shake. Lol wondered if there were any other options. Besides Ezekiel bread.
Btw don't get me wrong GB I can eat my share of oatmeal. But I like to switch things up.. lol
I like quinoa! A great carb source and it comes with a full amino acid profile! One of the best sources for vegetarians imo!
That like some specialty thing that you can only buy at whole food stores? I think I heard of it. It's like couscous right?Originally Posted by barrybulkers
Sweet. Bagels wouldn't be in the same carb content category unless there whole wheat correct. I think I recall seeing a Ronnie Rowland thread were he mentioned it but I can't seem to find it at the moment.
No bagels. Unfortunately whole wheat often means food coloring to make white look like whole wheat. Try Ezekiel bread instead.Originally Posted by Dadstrength

Lol ok ok. Since this was originally about oatmeal. What if I got that instant stuff an poured it in my shake, would that work the same? Or do they do some funky things to it to make it instant? Like basically ruin it as a good source?
You can just add raw rolled oats to your shake if you want. If you don't like the chunky texture that adds to the shake you can run them through a coffee grinder ( only cost about 10 bucks if you don't have one ) and blend in the resulting powder.Originally Posted by Dadstrength
Bagels, breads, pasta, etc aren't on the same 'level' only in that they're (further) processed than the choices I mentioned. Doesn't mean they're the devil though.Originally Posted by Dadstrength
Personally, if I were looking to drop bodyfat, I wouldn't make then a staple in my diet, but a couple times a week, so long as you work em' into your macros, no biggie really. IMO.
lol Kel... my carb source is oats 90% of the time. Nothing weird here!Originally Posted by kelkel
Forget the instant stuff that's packaged with sugar and other additives. Just get plain oats - you can even get the 'quick' oats variety, and just dump em' right into your shake raw. Shake, chug, chew, repeat. Personally, I enjoy it. My PWO shake always contains raw oats.Originally Posted by Dadstrength
+1 on the quinoa. kinda spendy, though.
buckwheat is another option.
Barley also makes a good breakfast with a little ground cinnamon.
just got two big bags of Quinoa at Costco for about $8 each. Should last months.
Thank god for Costco lolOriginally Posted by oatmeal69
F*ck Disney, Costco is the happiest place on earth!
I get Pre- ground oats from a local place. Mix in a few scoops with my shake. It is kinda gritty but it works. 90 servings for $20 and 1 serving is equivalent of 1 cup of regular oats. You do the math, it's cheaper than buying oats!!! Lol
Is it a health food store or regular grocery shop?Originally Posted by Heath48
Costco sells a 10 LB box for about $5. That's going to be right in the same neighborhood pricewise.
I just started mixing my 1 cup oatmeal and blue berries with a serving of fiber1...oh man my life is getting pretty exciting!
I like to mix red lentils with basmati rice (cook them together)
That Sounds good actually. To bad I can't put the beans in a rice cooker. LolOriginally Posted by 951thompson
It is a locally owned and operated health food store. They have crazy good deals. I have saved a ton of money on sups from them
