0% Milk?
Just wondering what it is that makes milk such a bad BB food. On paper it looks great to me. 1 cup contains 8.5 grams of protein/12 grams of carbs/.4 grams of fat, all for only 86 calories. I remember seeing pumping iron and Arnold saying he never drinks milk, but then again Arnold did and did not do a lot of things we now know aren't ideal, like slamming a load of beer and running miles pre workout.
I'm sure it must be something...Last edited by The Titan99; 06-21-2013 at 11:31 PM.

Well, I wouldn't say that it's completely bad. However, I don't think it's beneficial during a cut. It's very insulinotropic and results in a larger fat cell. For me, that makes it difficult to shed fat. However, it can be used in moderation and be beneficial. For me, I avoid milk at all times, regardless of my goals.
Baseline_9 is going to kill me now. Please find my body and return it to Austin, TX.~ PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR SOURCE CHECKS ~

Milk gets a bad rep for a few reasons IMO.
People complain of looking bloated and soft when drinking milk. Usually these are people who have issues with lactose whether they know it or not. There is no reason whatsoever milk would make you bloated if not for allergies to dairy or lactose.
People with lactose issues sometimes use the argument that the human body wasn't meant to digest milk from other animals. I guess the same reasoning could be used for any type of food we have allergies to....
The amount of female cow hormones in milk is higher than ever before due to cows being milked about 300 days out of the year and throughout pregnancy. Studies will say things like milk has "ten times the amount of estrogen that it used to in the 1950's". What they don't say is that even the ten times higher amount is still so small a figure that it's completely irrelevant and barely measureable. And add to that the fact that these hormones would be destroyed by the liver anyway and the whole idea becomes pretty futile.
And austin you're body isn't going back to TX, you're gonna be fish bait off the coast of the FL Keys.Last edited by Sgt. Hartman; 06-22-2013 at 06:56 AM. Reason: Can't spell

^^^That's why you need to read between the lines, get your milk straight from the teat!!! Bonus points if you put a dab of chocolate syrup in your mouth beforehand than shake it up to make chocolate milk!!
OP milk is not bad for you unless you have an allergy/intolerance to it or you're in a severe caloric deficit. It has a great macro profile, is an easy way to increase calories, and it goes with a lot of things (great with cereal, whey, shakes in the blender, PWO drink etc). It goes great on a bulk and can be had on a cut but you'd have to account for it with energy and macro intake obviously. I personally only drink whole milk. If I'm reducing calories and don't want to add calories I just skip milk in general. Not a fan of skim/0% milk but again, that's ME
Ppl's problems with it come from the fact that they're either allergic/intolerant to it, believe saturated fats are bad for you (false for the most part), bloats ppl easily, and some ppl are of the FALSE opinion that humans should to drink milk period. I suggest further research in your part or ask more questions so you can make an informed decision as to what's best for your current situation.

Headache is worse, too. I stopped drinking except on holidays about a year ago, and even then I'll only have a shot or a glass of wine. I think I'm just getting old.
Back on topic though, I don't drink no fat (0%) milk. It's too much like water. 1% doesn't sound like much fat but the difference between 0 and 1% for consistency is huge. Adds about 12g of protein to my pwo shakes too.Last edited by Java Man; 06-22-2013 at 08:19 PM.
