    Early Morning workout nutrition help

Hey guys I am gonna have to hit the weights early for a week or so at around 6:30-7:00 am and was wondering what is the best protocol for a workout this early. I am trying to do a lean bulk but of theres a benefit of fat loss this early ill do it and I am just hitting shoulders and traps. Ill be getting up at 6 so should I eat a small breakfast wait 30 min then get to it or would it be a better Idea to have a protein shake and some simple sugar to fuel me through? I have a time constraint so I have to be out by 6:30 and back by 7:40. Thanks

Meal timing should be based on how you feel. If eating something will help you workout better, go for it. Also, what you eat doesnt matter either. Just make sure it's accounted for as part of your daily macros.

What do you mean you're just hitting shoulders and traps?

If I was to train first thing in the morning I would have a large meal before bed including a lot of carb..... Then some cereal in the morning before the gym.... Something crappy, low in fiber and high in sugar...

Hey OP, this particular topic is hotly debated. Meal timings is a very personal experience. I think it boils down to just getting the food in during that 24/hour period. I train mornings and prefer to train on an empty stomach, on the other end of the scale is people like Baseline. Theres no right or wrong here. If you cant train fasted due to feeling fatigued or just lethargic, then experiment with an early pre-workout meal. See what works for you.

I usually train from 6.30 to 7.30. I just wake up at 6 am drink my protein shake and eat 5 dates and 7 brasilian nuts. That is what my stomac can handle, if I eat more I feel it in my stomach. Just try different approaches and see what which one works better for u

I actually messed up and was supposed to do legs but I was saying its shoulder day. Just trying to chase a pump til my bursitis subsides. But I actually did what belva did and it seemed alright. I actually felt as if I could have done it on a shake but I just wouldnt want to be burnin muscle for fuel. Do you guys know if resistance training early like this on an empty stomach gives the fat burning benefits as if you did early morning empty stomach catdio. I guess thats what I really wanted to find out. Thanks for responses guys.

Fasted training (cardio or lifting) is going to burn the same number of calories as fed training (actually probably less because you may feel fatigued).... So it's not going to make any difference unless your already very lean...

I usually train after work, but if before I dont change meal plan, just eat first meal before gym. Wake up, drink preworkout, wait a few mins then have 2 scoops natty pb, one plaian greek yogurt, 1/2 cup oats and 2 scoops protein, hit gym consuming bcaa intra, and theb pwo shake after. then just carry on day as normal with meals.

Ok I get ya there, but would working out pretty much fresh out of bed cause your body to go for more fat stores to fuel itself before going for muscle protein? Or are our bodies in a catabolic state already from the sleeping so when excercise occurs the body just continues catabolizing muscle protein?

This is exactly what I wanted to do but as baseline said I was worried about feeling fatigued from the meal. But my usual breakfast isnt as light as your. But I may steal that quick bteakfast idea for future use.lol
