    Sugar v Sugar Alcohols

So, sugar alcohols, like xylitol etc., don't count as carbs just the same as fiber correct? Thought being that its low impact in blood sugar levels?
I ask because every morning 2hr prior to my lift I eat 1-1.5cups of oatmeal with a scoop of protein powder. I recently got some sugarfree syrup. It has listed the following
    12g carbs
    1g dietary fiber
    11g sugar alcohols

Should I count this toward my carb macros (aka throw it out lol) or does it not count?

Personally the sugar free syrups really messed my water retention up. I was 4 weeks from comp And I was using the walden farms syrup, made me hold like 4 lbs over the course of a week, that being said might just be how my body reacts to it. Let the mirror and scale be your judge and adjust accordingly

It is still up for debate. Some sugar alcohol products can raise blood sugar even be labeled a high gi.
There labeled as a net carb. Personally I would not count them but if your eating a lot watch out for any signs in your body comp.

I have quite a bit of crystal ligbt drink mix everyday and have seen no ill effects on me getting to 8%.

    I'm on a low carb diet, I'm a type 2 diabetic and I don't count them.

Beast thanks for the replies. That's kinda what I was thinking. I'm trying to do most things sugar free etc but I've heard a lot of different things about sugar alcohols. Figured I'd ask a basic question

Most diabetics that i have talked to or worked with are told to count sugar alcohol as half carbs. So 10=5.
