Instead of cutting how about lean bulk ?

Gents, my BF is too high, I obviously need to lose fat, now the approach should be to cut and i read the cutting 101, but i came across lean bulk, which sounds to be the opposite of what i want to do: bulk to gain and cut to lose but if i can maintain my strength and shed a bit of fat will a lean bulk work ?

If i lose say 20 pounds (max goal) i would be comfortable.

If you need to lose 20 lbs well then cutting is the route you need to take!

Cut until an acceptable level of bf and then lean bulk! You'll be much happier with the results

I'm a firm believer in lean bulking, it suits my goals and life style just fine. For example, in the last year I have gone from 230lbs 18% bf to 215lbs 10% even though lighter I look much bigger< I am much bigger, I gained a solid 1 1/2" on my arms for example at less BF. I lost about 30lbs of fat and gained 15lbs of pure solid muscle a good yr if I say so myself.

It took you a year to do it! Cutting and them bulking is a better way about it IMO. And after cuttin will be in a much better place to bulk

This is excellent. It is always hard on me to cut completely. Getting smaller always mentally takes a toll. Looking better with your shirt off is a plus, but looking smaller in a shirt is always mentally testing. I am in no hurry to get to where I want to be. Slow and steady wins the race.

I kind of stumbled on a "lean bulk" quite by accident. I think. My original goal was to cut lots of fat and just accept that I was going to drop lbm too. Turns out I dropped the fat and gained. I did not set out to do that but it happened so I'll take it. Since April 26 my lbm has gone from 146 to 153 while bf has declined from 27.6% to 13.4%. I was so worried about losing muscle I started to reconsider what I was doing for cutting but it all turned out for the good. Don't know if this is normal or not but it was a relief to know it is possible to do both.

Was this your first time to begin working out gym wise? Or at least working out in a long time? Could be newbie gains which is a great thing and to gain 9lbs is awesome bro! Could explain your 'lean bulk'

I've worked out off and on through the years but this is the first time back "serious" in about 5 or 6 years. Won't be stopping again. Ever.

That's a great attitude to have! I have been stop start as of last while! Either killing the gym but poor diet or vice versa.

In the process of getting a plan together! Should be posting it up tomorrow or day after to start ASAP :-)

I will also say what i have been doing for cutting is eating brown rice and fish, seriously and power crunch bars bc of my damn sweet tooth.
